Are you talking about East Indian men? I would beg to differ, as an Indian girl.

I actually know a lot of Indian who prefer really skinny women, but a lot also like curvy women. Some do like fat women as well, as long as you have fair skin.


Some of my Indian guy friends think Marilyn Monroe is fat or isn't "athletic" enough! So there you go. :)

For the person who mentioned the Khajuraho temple and how Hindu Goddesses are voluptuous, that was in ancient India. Current Indian models and actresses are very slender, just like Western models. There are a lot of Indian men who get conditioned to these super skinny runway Indian models and start liking them.

EDIT: Actually, a lot of Indian girls are very skinny before they get married and have no curves whatsoever. I don't think you can say that most Indian women are genetically designed to be curvacious or that being slender won't look good on them. It really varies. Some Indian women are voluptuous though, some are overweight...we are very diverse. Check out some of the Indian models like Amrita Rao and Garima Parnami..some of them are sticks.

Come to think it, a pleasantly plump, curvaceous female figure is the object of desire not only of Indian males, but also of males from any part of the world. Of course I don't want to sound like a male chauvinistic pig, but then that is the undeniable truth. The most famous beauties across the world and the prettiest Hollywood actresses were no skinny minies, but had adequate flesh and fat on their bones.
Skinny, anorexic models who scorch the ramps nowadays are essentially products of ultra modern Western imagination and fashion. The earliest models and depictions of Indian beauties as found in carvings of temple architectures in Konark, Khajuraho etc. show them as highly curvaceous and heavy at the breasts and hips. You will find similar instances in ancient Indian paintings and other works of art too. The Hindu Goddesses and Apsaras are also depicted similarly. Thus the concept of a beautiful female in the Indian male's minds since time immemorial is that of a curvaceous type, who has moderate fat on her body. If Western men appreciate a sharp, angular profile in their women, Indian males definitely are comfortable with a well rounded look in their women. That kind of ideal feminine look has been hammered down the Indian male's imagination down the ages.
I guess that Indian women are genetically designed that way, unlike Western women who have a more toned down and proportionate figure. So, if an Indian woman decides to go all out for a diet and exercises in order to bring herself to resemble a Western peer, that kind of look wouldn't look good on her. Also a healthy (or moderately fat, if you prefer) has been traditionally looked upon as a sign of a disease free body, which is also fertile and has the power to conceive and reproduce children.
Finally, nowadays even the West is frowning on skinny, anorexic figures of female models. Such models are being disparagingly described as clothes hangers by some quarters and some fashion shows have banned models who don't have the minimum prescribed weight. So plump is happily back across the world and its hopefully good bye to lean, mean women, I guess.

But our forefathers depended upon the `mass' to decide various physical and psychological factors. Perhaps we have inherited this and follow. Moreover, moderate fat body suits the Indian costumes from north to south and east to west.

It's cultural. I think that White and Asian men are the only men that may prefer skinny women. Black and Latino men also prefer a women with meat on her bones.
