why do you say nobody knows fo sure? have you read the tons of research on the origins of homosexuality? you say things like that, and you being gay - or whatever you are, just feeds the hate and "gay is a choice!" rhetoric of anti-gay groups.

i was born in the gay as well, but, i would like to know if people are just spending a short time in the gay, or "moved" to the gay because of their environment.

I guess you are right, some people do get married to please the family, or culture they come from, I know I got married for seven years and finally was free to be who I am today, after we got divorced, it was all my fault, because I thought I could cover up who I was to please everyone, but I was wrong, we must be true to ourselves, then we can be happy.

As research mounts it becomes clearer and clearer how little environment plays a factor. I've listened to the stories of so many LGBT people, and there seem to be no common environmental threads.

We're made that way. And frankly, I'm happy with it.

Throw me another softball Mac - I love'em! :)

Well, I work at a prison and I've certainly seen guys that I get absolutely no sense of a gay nature from, but they still have their "punks" and "daddies". So, yes, I'll say that although I knew that I was gay from childhood, I think that if you've been deprived of something long enough, then you'll resort to the closest substitute available--even if it's just for the release of your sex-drive and nothing else!

I personally was born gay as was my partner and the large majority of people I know. I do, however, have a friend who claims she chose it....I used to think she was in denial, but really, who am I to say.

And who can dispute how I was born LOL.

I would say that, yes, it is entirely possible for a man to be raised as a homosexual due to the conditions existing in his culture. However, the vast majority of homosexuals are born attracted to the same sex.

Also, in Samoan society, males are sometimes raised as females due to the conditions that exist in Samoan society. An interesting report done by National Geographic on the fafafini: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EronVtKYr0c

It is a possibility. A person's environment can play a huge role in their development and growing up.

nobody knows for sure if it's nature, nurture or some combo of the two, so how can that question be answered?

All I know is I didn't choose to be gay. Other than that....nature? nurture? who knows? And frankly, I dont really care. I'm still gay regardless of what they find out.

EDIT: there is no research that clearly states anything as far as the nature vs nurture arguement goes. So, to suggest there is is plain wrong.

I already stated i did not choose to be gay, and I've never known someone who said they did choose to be gay. However, that is not proof that it's nature. It still could be nurture. We dont know.

I have my own opinions on it....I think it's a very complex combo of nature AND nurture. But, again....who cares??? I'M GAY....and that aint changing regardless of what they find out.

Also I am curious , you know that in the animal kingdon homosexuality is common, how do monkeys figure that out? since homosexuality in monkeys is very very common.
