It's not particle board. It's oriented strand board. In any case, it's not good for garage doors. You need to repair the door with exactly what was there in the first place.

OSB= particle board / not agood choice. if you are going to repair a garage door use real plywood at least five ply. better yet just get a new door they are rather cheap to buy these days and come complete with simple install instructions.

OSB is Oriented Strand board. Some people call it wafer board because its made out flat wood chips which are compressed together with adhesive. The majority of wood doors have Masonite panels. And make sure that the patch is painted. Otherwise the material will adsorb water which will cause rot The added water weight could also effect the balance of the door.

OSB is "oriented strand board" used in construction and remodeling. I have heard of it used for walls, roofs, sub floors, etc, but have not heard of it used for garage doors!

You could also get a treated plywood if you want to stop the rot.
