Question 1
-3x - 6 + 4x = 5x + 18
- 24 = 4x
x = - 6

Question 2
x + 3y = 12
3y = 12 - x
y = 4 - x / 4

Question 3
First consider the line x - y = 1
y = x - 1
Cuts y axis at (0 , -1)
Cuts x axis at (1 , 0)
Draw a DOTTED line thro` these points to show that line is not included in solution.
Required answer is then a shaded region to the right of dotted line.

Harry, your math is wrong. You multiplied -3 by 2 and got 6 which is incorrect, it is -6. This is the proper math.

-3x - 6 + 4x = 5x + 18
x - 6 = 5x + 18
x - 5x = 18 + 6
-4x = 24
x = 24/-4
x = -6

x + 3y = 12
3y = 12 - x
y = (12 - x)/3

This problem is asking you to graph a dotted straight line, pick a test point not on the line and check. If the point makes the inequality true, shade that side of the dotted line, if not, shade opposite side.

–3(x + 2) + 4x = 5x + 18
=> -3x - 6 + 4x = 5x + 18
=> -3x + 4x - 5x = 18 + 6
=> -4x = 24
=> x = 24 / -4
=> x = -6

Solve for y. x + 3y = 12
=> 3y = 12 - x
=> y = (12 - x ) / 3

Graph the inequality.
x – y > 2 ......make a straight line with one side shaded
2 pts = (2,0) & (0,-2)

0-0> 2 ...false
=> shade side opposite to (0,0)

-3(x+2)+4x=5x + 18
-3x-6+4x=5x+18
x-6=5x+18
x-5x=18+6
-4x=24
x=-6

x+3y=12
3y=12-x
y=(12/3)-(x/3)
=4-(x/3)
