Neither. I live on a peninsula where storms are a way of life, coming from the river or ocean side. We can have damaging storms at any time of year depending on the winds, the moon and the tides. My neighbors and I are fully aware of the vagaries of nature. I, too, wish the media wouldn't hype the storms as much as they do. Many people end up ignoring the warnings. One year, we had a "No Name" storm whose ferocity was not predicted. I can still remember setting up a food and clothing center until more serious support from the government could arrive. Early one morning I received a call from a landlord asking me to pick up a key and open the doors. Within minutes people began arriving. It taught me how quickly life can change back and forth between the positive and negative. I hope Hurricane Dean ends up being a bust. Good luck in RI.

As the SURVIVOR of TWO Major Hurricanes (Ivan -- 2004, Dennis -- 2005), other minor hurricanes and tropical storms ... I am just RELIEVED That Hurricane Dean is going PAST my Gulf Coast State ...
BECAUSE I've already replaced my roof (on my home) that Ivan Damaged in 2004. Was without power for some time. Generators can only go so far. Miserable in the Dark, the Heat ... Cooking on Gas Barbecue Grills, Chain Sawing down the damaged trees, picking up pieces of OTHER peoples' Sheds (or street lamps from miles away that landed in my yard), the constant banging of debris ... the horrific sound of the rain/winds ....

The Woodlands is approximately 30 miles North of Downtown yet I remember that for the time of Rita a pair years in the past (inspite of it not being a extensive typhoon), The wooded area skilled an excellent style of wind harm. they are able to nevertheless get an excellent style of the aspects up there because it is not that a techniques from the coast. tell your loved ones to coach only in case.

I don't want it here. Hurricanes can be kind of fun (in a way, obviously I don't want people hurt or anything), but it just messes everything up.

I'm upset because the news media hypes it up so much. The negativity feeds the storm.
