Because this administration is very aware of the perception of a lot of Americans that Bush is not that smart. Rove's job is to pursuade the public to like the president and embrace his policies... and no one wants to follow someone who seems clueless.
Rove has been failing at his job since 2005. At times he has been more of a story than the president... and a person in his position should be as invisible as possible. He seemed to have lost sight of trying to be that.

I am only concerned about one book that Bush read. This is the story of the Goat. (I don't recall the exact title). That is the book he continued to read with a blank look on his face during his photo op at an elementary school on 9/11 after he had been told that both of the Twin Towers had been destroyed. This man is an abomination to the earth.

My best guess is that Rove doesn't want to take all the blame for Bush's harebrained ideas.and policies. He wants us to know, Bush has been exposed to other influences, such as a book.
(By the way, Karl is spelled with a K. I always remember this by thinking of AmeriKa).

The last I heard we can still talk to anyone we want in this country. If it is important enough you will know as Rush Limbaugh's job is to blab on and on and on.

I heard the interview. The two men are at least friendly with Pres. Bush. The point was to demonstrate how public figures can be incredibly different from how the media portrays them.
