my boyfriend and i have been together for a year and a half. i live with him and his family. lately he has been working two jobs and i never see him. i work my one job 50 hours while im preparing for my first year of college which in just a few weeks. its very stressful and i dont know why he even h as a second job. anyways, i try to be nice and loving but it breaks my heart when every time i tell him "i love you" all i get is silence back. he told me he he didnt know what love is when i asked him. he said he only knew "i like you more than anything else, and i want to be near and with you all the time. i think i love you, but i dont know. i dont know what love is"
is there anything i can do about this? how can i show him love?
is it somthing like God, somthing you cannot prove excists but you have to trust its there?

Take him at face value - he doesn't know if he loves you but he likes you a lot.
If that's not enough for you right now, move on. Because if you don't, you'll end up driving him nuts. You might want to stop telling him you love him. He probably feels guilty every time you do and guilt drives people away.
It's very important to BE YOURSELF, don't try to be extra nice or manipulative. If you act diferently than you are, you are being dishonest to both of you.
Listen to that song "I can't make you Love Me if You don't".
I hope it works out! It sounds like you are both building good lives.

darling love isn't something that is just said it's something you feel and he might find it hard to say it but just as long as you feel it thats all that matters. you cant show him how to love but you can show him what love is by being by his side through good times and bad...be there to smile with him as well as being his shoulder to cry on and in time he will realise what love is...guys usually take longer with the whole 'ilove you' thing...hope it all works out
