There were fighter jets that responded to the high jacking. Minutes before flight 93 crashed the order was given to shoot down any plane that did not respond to control tower communications. Flight 93 was identified as a hijacked plane and jets were sent after it. Don't believe media hype and Hollywood BS. Flight 93 did not crash because passengers fought back to control the plane. Sure they fought back, but there is no evidence they were even remotely successful. The plane crashed because the hijackers knew they'd be shot down. It isn't unreasonable to assume that the plane may have even been forced down since it crashed in an empty field as opposed to a populated area.

Up until that day, the standard plan to mitigate danger of harm to passengers on an airliner was to allow the highjackers/aircraft crew to focus on safely getting to any destination and then to begin hostage negotiations. We have see many airplane hijackings before and none have resulted in the disaster which we saw on 9/11. In most hijackings, the situation was able to be controlled in that the hijackers had demands. Negotiations would take place, and yes, at times disaster struck and people would die, but NOTHING like 9/11. The situation on 9/11 really did happen fast. I imagine that that 30 minutes was spent planning and trying to figure out even what the intentions of the highjackers were.
Also, NORAD is about 2,000 miles away, however there are AF bases in close proximity.

Reffering to 9/11/2001, to read an interesting plan that the United States were going to carry out on people within the United States read and research The Northwoods Operation or Operation Northwoods of 1960s. This strategy would have taken the United States war with Cuba. However, read about how the United States was to attack itself. The plan sounds similar to 9/11/2001. Keen adivce, do not trust your Federal Government. The United States can attack itself and easily brainwash people in the United States to believe, for example, it was Iran just to go to war. Everyone immediately wants to believe in their Federal Government. DO NOT have too much trust.
This does not apply to 9/11/2001. People are permitted to form their own hypothesis, but too many questions remained unanswered.
Overall or in conclusion, you, again may find The Northwoods Operation or Operation Northwoods of 1960s interesting if you never knew about this plan. Look / Examine how easy it is for your government to fool its own people. Another historical point was the Burning of the Reichstag.

The first plane hit the tower, the first reaction was it was an accident. The calls from the other three planes went to the airlines they where working to find out what was going on. Than they had four planes they where getting confused. Second plane hits. than we knew we where under attack. Than the VP was in charge as they where getting bush to safety. The pentagon got hit. They found out about the 4 th plane and Dick order them to intercept, and their was mass confusion to if he had the authority to do so. The Fighters where scrambled to intercept, their was also the matter of the jets being able to go supersonic.

The plans were already in the air, not all hijackings end so devastating like 9/11 so why have America fighter jets shoot down plans filled with people? By the time they realized it was to late anyway. It's more then 10mins. I live in NY the plans took a quick turn and that was it.... why even bring up such a hurtful topic and getting people all upset.

Because, conspiracy theory or not, the Americans simply could not bring themselves to believe that anyone could have the Gall/ Bravado/ Cheek, nor the ability to actually mount an attack against them from within their own borders!!
Here was the "mightiest nation on earth", (or so they thought), getting its *ss kicked - at home - in front of a worldwide audience!
Regardless of the conspiracy theorists, ALL that matters from that day is that innocent people were killed as they went to work. The people working in those offices were not directly responsible for America's foreign policy, those that were however, were safely tucked away knowing that their worthless skins were safe!!
Hopefully, the lesson that will be learned by Americans is to never trust a Politician again and to never become so complacent again!!

Because we did not shoot down hijacked planes. In the history of hijackings (and there were many) taught people to stay calm, do what they wanted and more than likely only your schedule would be hurt.

At least once it all got started they then grounded everything for at least a week and then only a few went up. Better than to let them keep flying around and blowing things up.
