We were very poor and my parents worked so very hard. (We kids had to go to work with them in the bitter cold and just stay out of the boss's way) It was Christmas eve and Santa Claus had come to our house while my parents were at work!

They opened the door.....and it was like nothing I've ever experienced before. It was probably pitiful in most people's eyes as far as presents....but in mine....it was the most awesome thing in the world....it was magical.

On holiday in Yarmouth when I was a kid about 6. My dad was very ill so couldn't walk very far so he had played prize bingo on the prom all week while my mum, brothers and I strolled about and went on the fun fair and things. At the end of the week he took me to the prize kiosk at the end of the bingo hall and bought me the biggest teddy bear I'd ever seen. I don't have my dad now, but forty years on I still have the bear :-)
