I consider myself a Liberal on social issues and a moderate on ecomonic issues. Even though capitalism is not perfect I believe it can be used for the good of society but left unchecked it also corrupts. What's weird though is that I have always admired men who were against capitalism...like Che Guevara for example. Is it normal to see anti-capitalists as heroes and still support globalization?

Yes. Having Leftist, "anti-capitalist" views, along with the idea of some sort of global economy, whether controlled or free, is not necessarily hypocritical or straying from type. The USSR and the People's Republic of China, for example, both attempted (And in the case of the PRC- still attempt) to export their forms of government and economic strategy. This was why the Cold War was "fought". Capitalism is an economic ideology, but it is not the only form of economy.

So, I would say that, yes, you can have both those views. I would add that I think that is unfortunate that so many people feel the need to follow so closely to type the "template" of politics they lean towards. We would have a healthier Republic and democracy if people were willing to hold views outside of official party rhetoric. But that's just my two cents.

Some leftists support globalization because they think in terms of a global economy. To most leftists globalization is seen as a harmful concept that hurts American workers. The benefits to the corporations are outweighed by the loss of jobs, quality control, safety considerations and environmental considerations.

The loss of the manufacturing base is extensive but corporations are offshore outsourcing white collar jobs such as tech support, legal work, accounting, software development, engineering and architectural work, etc.

This can't be good for American workers no matter what excuses and rationalizations the corporations present.

No, I don't think it's normal. You need to choose. And being against capitalism doesn't mean you are against globalization - just globalization by and for the corporations.

Notadummyrat, your grasp of history and politics is just staggering. You seem to be implying that Hitler was a leftist. I can only hope that you're not the typical end-product of the schools you attended.

I think you have confused the terms "capitalism" and "globalization." Capitalism is a pejorative invented by Karl Marx, to try to denigrate free markets, to knock freedom and free enterprise.
I am a conservative. I believe in free markets in the US. I believe other countries should engage in free enterprise. We should keep our countries as is.
