I don't know if there are two different movies or not but the one i saw was a TV Special that is currently being aired on one of the networks this month. There is also some writeups on the web about a documentery/move on Walmart and I don't know if it is a different one. They preview that documentary on these sites and tell about it. The one I saw it on TV was a real eye opener for me. What shocked me the most on that one was the way they are treating all their foreign employees, especially the ones in China. It seemed like100% abuse and if they were treating employees in America that way, they would be in in trouble with the law right now. The next time you purchase an item in WalMart, think about the poor people who made it in a foreign country and the fact that they worked in non airconditioned factories under extreme adverse conditons with an income of 50 cents and hour or less. Another topic the documentary talked about was that they don't care where they put their stores and whom or what environmental properties they ruin in doing it. There was one WalMart in particular that built near a river that was being patrolled by voluteers to keep the river safe and free from toxins. WalMart put all their Chemicals and Furtilizers that are kept in bags in their outdoor area to sell and they were right next to the city runoff drains that fed into the river. The bags were laying right next to the drains with no covering over them. They weren't air tight and also some were even broken open and when it rained, the runoff was going right into the city's water supply which was that river. It took the river patrollers a long time to get that WalMart to take action and clean up the problem. The Documentary stated that when a WalMart store comes into your city, the city goes into financial trouble and starts shutting down businesses due to the 'way' WalMart operates. There are entire cities now that are pulling together to ban WalMarts from entering their city. This is SCARY! There was so much stuff in that documentary about the 'real' WalMart that I suggest everyone watch it. It is a real eye opener.

When I go into a Walmart, which is only once or twice a month because of the distance, right up front they have a huge bulletin board showing all the local schools and charities they have contributed to. That impressed me, but, too, I do know the negative impact they have on smaller, local businesses. But in this day and age, we all look to save money, and Walmart can offer huge savings on most items I buy compared to my local stores. But I do shop local most of the time, but I don't have children to buy for anymore, either. Also, in Nebr., so many have been updating to the super Walmarts and the old one sits empty, permanently. Many have made the same comment I have; "Why can't they donate that huge building to something charitable?!" Also, the hugeness of the place alone makes me not want to shop there. You try to find someone to help you, and they see you coming toward them, they'll turn around and walk away! Yes, there are many downfalls to the Great Walmart! Maybe they will try to correct these if enough air their complaints, along with the 'school logo' problem!

I don't see that it's a huge problem with where I live. The Walmarts here do carry school logo items but they are like a seasonal item and after they are gone...they are gone.
I don't see that as taking away from school monies. I see it offering a service to the customers. Also, if you want to check out what Walmart does for your local area. Find out what charites and school sponsored events they help. It's quite impressive.

WALMART has done more harm to America than Osama ever dreamed of. They forced our manufacturing jobs to China, destroyed our downtowns, poisoned our children reduced our wages, destroyed small business and on and on. Yet Americans will still rush there to buy a "Support our Troops " magnet that was made in China.

stealing is a pretty strong claim! we live in a capitalistic society, wal-mart is simply capitalistic. if the US gov't allows it then who's truly to blame? if they gave 'useful' and usable breaks to ALL businesses we wouldn't see these bad things with regard only to wal-mart. the same things can be said about most any business in the world. look to de beers diamonds, Siemens and the 'experimental" things they did to bring us the electronics we now take for granted. human history is riddled with unfair 'equalities'. rest assured, the current gov't trends on business will insure wal-mart will be here long after the 'ma and pa' places are long forgotten. sad but true!
don't get me wrong, i'm an American and believe America is the best place on the planet, i wouldn't live anywhere else, but don't take my word for it either! look it up yourself!! how do you like what our gov't does now? and to most posters here; do YOU vote? are you letting YOUR voice be heard? i do!

If the local school would offer a better price, I'm sure folks would buy from them.
