O. Henry is the pen name of William Sidney Porter. Porter was convicted of embezzlement and spent time in prison. He adopted O. Henry as a pen name when he began to submit stories for publication. He is best known for a "twist" at the end of his stories that make them unique. He invented the Cisco Kid, but is best remembered for "The Gift of the Magi", "The Last Leaf", and "The Cop and the Anthem". Most of his stories are set in New York City at the turn of the century..

Yes, O. Henry is a pseudonym for William Sydney Porter. He was a prolific American short-story writer with a knack for surprise endings. Perhaps you have heard of "The Ransom of Red Chief".

Yes, O Henry was the pen name of William Sydney Porter. We know it's true because we just put the Porter name in our search engine and it came up telling us what I just wrote, plus a lot more.

I guess we know because he said that was his name. When I was in high school, in the sixties, we studied O' Henry for his short stories. I think that is what he is best remembered for.
