Hold your temper. Start looking for a new job now, and put in your two weeks when you find a new one. Quitting will not only disqualify you for unemployment, but it will look bad to prospective employers. I can imagine how you feel, as I have felt that way about bosses before and made the mistake of blowing up. I almost lost my job. It's better if you just let it ride till you find a new job.

No,the only reason to get unemployment is when you lose your job through no fault of your own. When you quit,it's your choice not to get a paycheck. You have to prove that you lost your job by showing a written notice of seperation or a pinkslip.I find that working at McDonalds for the few months puts things in perspective.Living on minimum wage motivates you to put up with anything to get back to your previous salary.I got fired in 2001 due to a rumor at work, they couldn't give due cause for terminating me and I got my unemployment after 3 months of waiting for it.When I found a new job, they offered twice the wages as my previous employer.

If you dislike your job that much, you should look for another job before you quit. If you quit first, then find it hard to get another job someplace else, you'd be up poop's creek without a paddle. The job market nowadays is hard, so maybe you should suck up the personality difference you have with your boss, and keep on going. And tone down the attitude!! I don't think you can get unemployment if you quit; quitting is like putting a black mark on your job history. Quitters never win...

Generally, the idea behind unemployment compensation is if you're unemployed through no fault of your own.
If you quit because of an intolerable work condition, be prepared for the employer to fight the claim, but it's possible you can win. You'll need more than just saying that he's a jerk. There's a certain amount of jerk behavior in a boss that's expected, such as having dress codes, expecting you to be on time, expecting you to actually do productive work, expecting to be able to set your work priorities, that kind of thing.
By the way, being fired doesn't necessarily entitle you to unemployment compensation, either. If they were right to fire you because you chose to engage in the behavior that made them fire you, they can avoid the claim. For example, if you get fired for stealing, you don't get unemployment compensation.

In NJ, if you quit a job for good cause then you can collect but you have to work after that job and earn several times the weekly benefit rate to become eligible. You also have to have earnings for a certain number of weeks before quitting.
I imagine rules vary depending upon what state you live in. Research it on the Internet to find out what the requirements are for your state.

In Georgia benefits are available to those workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. Eligibility for benefits is determined based on past wages, reason for job separation, and availability and job search requirements. To find the guidelines for the state in which you reside go here:

Your temper tantrum will cost you. No unemployment, and if you are fired for good cause, like cussing him out to his face, you won't get it either.
Start looking for another job while you are working at this one and cool off. Or you could be on the street.

No, you cannot get it if you quit or if you are fired for just cause. You can only collect if you are laid off or terminated through no fault of your own.
If you spit on him, not only can he fire you for just cause, but could file a criminal complaint against you for battery by bodily fluid.
