Hi La La etc...
As others have suggested (sometimes rather rudely) it is fairly obvious that you do need a guitar before you learn...
...however, this is where a little thought can help. If you don't play already you need to decide what kind of playing you want to do.
Are you a budding rock star? heavy metal blitz artist? folk singer? classical music player? (and so on...)
All these need different types of guitar and the choice of style will denote the kind of guitar you need to buy.
Once you have decided on the style, you need to buy the guitar. far too complex for anyone to tell you exactly which guitar you need, but one thing is certain (and common to ALL types)...
...Buy the very best guitar you can afford of the particular style suited to what you want to play. At first it will sound as awful as it would if you played a broken, split, distorted piece of garage sale junk...but as you progress you will learn to appreciate the qualities of sound and ease of playing that a good guitar can give you.
Go to a guitar centre and ask their advice. They will, almost certainly, have notices of guitar teachers in your area...pick one that specialises in the style you want to learn and off you go...
The main key to success is, of course, practice. Every day, every minute you can, until your fingers hurt and then harden and you begin to really enjoy the sound you are making.
There are many books, CD Roms, DVD's etc. that can help, too...but the main thing is PRACTICE.
Enjoy your new hobby, start out right and you'll soon be playing (though you'll never be satisfied (you'll begin trying more and more difficult techniques)
It's a brilliant instrument and well worth the effort needed to become proficient (and, of course, if you're good enough you can earn an enjoyable living out of it.
Good luck,
BobSpain...and don't forget to practice!

Well if you want to learn, you are going to need a guitar to learn on. So I say buy one now then learn. I wanted one so bad when I was like 13, my mom got me one and I learned some basic stuff and how to play like 4 songs and I quit. I know I am a quitter, I would like to pick it back up someday though.

Well thats stupid...isn't it. Uh, and you kinda decided the answer your self. If you learn then buy you won't have a guitar to learn on. It ain't rocket science.

Buy a guitar to practice on,I recommend not spending much money on this guitar till we have practice enough to spend more money on another one of our choice.
Try to buy a used one maybe you don't spend much and can have a good guitar.
good luck

if you really wanted to buy a guitar, you should learn to play it because if you dont, the guitar would be useless...

Maybe you can rent one just to learn on. Many times you can rent musical instruments. This way, you can find out if you really want to continue, and then spend the money for something decent.
