In recent question, almost all respondents noted either ending the war in Iraq or illegal imm./US So. border, as most important issues for our next president to address. Is one of these issues more critical than the other? If so why?

The war in Iraq is an aberration caused by George Bush's fixation with being Savior of the World. Get rid of George Bush and you have solved that problem,.

The real issue is border security. While Bush is out determined to secure the Iraqi borders and to stamp out religious fanaticism in that country, the same religious fanatics carrying bombs and drugs are able to creep across our OWN southern border at will. So it makes no sense to secure Iraq's border, and ludicrous to even suggest sending US Border Patrol agents to Iraq, when our own border is wide open and unprotected so the same terrorists can just walk in unhindered.

Bush has made it plain and perfectly clear that he will do anything he can to avoid defending our border and his desire obviously is to keep it wide open so the illegals can gain free and easy access.

US border security is the more pressing issue but Bush will have none of that. His head is shoved so far up his butt to the point he can only see Iraq.

Illegal immigration (& not just from our Southern border) is an issue that has been draining this country of necessary funds for decades. Until we get a handle on that, until local governments stop protecting the illegals already here, our crime, drug and social services issues plus a multitude of other problems will not get any better. However I also believe that most politicians are simply throwing words at the problem because it has been shoved into the center by the media. They don't want to solve the problem out of fear that it will take away their power base plus ultimately lessen the amount of people who depend on HHS for help.

Right now our most pressing problem is illegal immigration, before we start making wars overseas we should protect our borders first, this problem has been going on for years and our congress just let it slide
I consider myself an independent and I dislike Bush as much as the liberals, but this immigration problem is not his doing, this goes back to when Reagan gave 3 million illegals their citizenship and congress along with the border state representatives refused to enforce the immigration laws that were provided along with the amnesty provisions, now Ted Kennedy and his puppets Harry Reid and John McCain want to trick the american people again, but liberals do not want to admit it's one of their own that is pushing for illegals to come here.

Illegal immigration is the most pressing at this time. It is kind of hard to stop another country's civil war in another country when we have the beginnings of our own civil war here. It just does not make sense.

Immigration in my opinion. We need to know who is here. These undocumented illegals are probably costing the tax payers more than the war. I don't have that on fact, just seems like it.

we need to end the war first and then have our military help in getting rid of illegals. they are not just from the south, they come from all over.
