Obviously, you think that your problem is more than 'small'. You also seem to think that there might be more going on with this conversation you continue to have with yourself. You appear to be asking for help? We know little about you, you have no information on your profile and none of us are doctors. My suggestion, if you really think this is an issue, please, please do consult a counselor!

I have always told that talking to ones self is not an issue - but when you start 'answering back' - there's a problem. You might just be overly critical of yourself and overly judgmental. Do you have sisters, brothers, anyone 'else' you can talk to? Do other people 'hear' you talk to yourself? Has anyone commented to you about this habit? If not, then you may not have the problem you think you do -

On the other hand, if it's as deep as you say (the two people) you might have some schizoid tendencies and should be checked out for your health's concern.

At any rate, you are uncomfortable about it and you should do something to help yourself.

calm down smeagol. It's ok lots of people do it. Just try to play it off and not look crazy if you really want to stop, (now I'm totally being serious) slap yourself every time you talk to yourself as hard as you can (preferably not in public so you don't look even more crazy)

The human mind is built to stop you from doing things that hurt you. So in other words every time you are about to talk to yourself you will think for a second before hand because your body will be ready for that pain. Like if you stab yourself with a knife picking it up clumsily.Every time for the rest of your life you're very careful when picking one up.

It doesn't sound like you have a problem at all. I do that all the time, sometimes i even act as if i'm 3 or 4 poeple. There's nothing wrong with doing that at all.

I had a boyfriend, who could literally hold a two way conversation with himself, even when no-one on msn was talking to him, he would open the window up and start chatting away to himself. He is completely normal. I wouldn't worry, and it helps keep the loneliness at bay :D

If you are alone and you do this, I think it is normal but if you do it in front of people they may think you are abnormal. You are probably more than 2 people as we put on different faces for different people and situations. Talking to yourself when you are alone helps straighten things out in your mind, I think anyway and the older you get the more you will probably do it.

Yea but look on the bright side. At least you never get bored of the conversation.

I do exactly the same thing. I don't believe we have a problem, more like a habit.

If you think you have a problem you don't; worry when you think you don't have a problem... it is then that you do!
