I recently choked on a cocklebur found in my bag of Spitz, I have emailed the company and they have told me that the cocklebur should not have been there in the first place. My question is, what are my options and how should I go about dealing with this. I used to be an avid Spitz eater and now I can barley look at a bag of Spitz. I still have the item and was told to send it to the company headquarters. Is it ok to send the item or should I wait untill i talk to someone first?

Btw a cocklebur is a weed that grows with the sunflower seeds, it is hard because they roast it along with the seeds, and it is round and pointy. Spitz are sunflower seeds, easiest just to type in spitz.com or spitz.ca

What is a cocklebur? What are Spitz?

I'm in America, never heard of them.

Well, in America, if you have money, you can sue for just about anything. However, unless you can prove physical or mental harm/anguish occurred, you probably don't have a case.

You can call the company and complain. I did that once when I found moths in my freakin dry oatmeal package. They sent coupons, that's about it.

EDIT:

Okay, thanks for your info! Never heard of them, really! I thought you might be joking. Anyways, it may be a safety issue, and if you had died or were hospitalized, then you would have a case. As it is, you could file a complaint through a government agency, and they may follow up on it, or you could complain directly to the company. Most companies try to maintain a proper image for business reasons, and may respond by sending you coupons, and an assurance that they are taking care of it.

I would take pictures of it, and send the pictures...but don't send "the evidence".

Up until today, I have never heard of 'a bag of Spitz,' so I have no real clue what your problem is. As to the cocklebur thing, unless you have proof that this thing did any kind of harm to you, you have no grounds for a lawsuit. I am sure it was just an honest mistake; no company in their right mind would deliberately include harmful things in their products. It was probably just an oversight in the manufacturing. You can contact the manufacturer and make your opinion known; the most you might get is a coupon for a free bag of Spitz (EEWW! Sounds disgusting).

Dude, grow up. you're still alive, right? The dreaded cocklebur hasn't killed your family or maimed your pets. Stop looking for a problem where there isn't any. What's wrong with you???
All sorts of crazy stuff is going on in the world and you think you need a therapist because you are now afraid to look at a bag of Spitz?? Wow, you're freakin' me out.
