The easy and cheap answer is that he wanted to prove he's a man, once his own neck wouldn't personally be on the line.

I hold Bush in as much disdain as the next guy, but I gotta say - just because someone has no military experience does NOT mean they can't wage a war, nor should it be such in the public mind. He should never have launched Iraq, but that's just a specific that does not countermand the principle I stated.

SEA-BAT's got it right.

[edit] whyareyouaPOS - Oh puhleeeze. What a crock of shtt.

[edit] Mike - Newsflash: 9/11 was not caused by, ordered by, or financed by Iraq. That was obvious to anyone with a brain ON 9/11.

Pantload: he volunteered for duty in Nam while in the Air Guard. If you knew anything at all he was turned down. Bush flew F-102's and that aircraft was not deployed in Nam. The F102 was designed for air intercept primarily to defend against Soviet incursion into US airspace.

Who cares if he didn't go to Viet Nam, the only rich kids were over there by choice. What I want to know is why he decided to go into Iraq, Al Quida was in Afghanistan!
And we let Bin Laden live because he did not want to kill a Saudi Prince that had no business in Afghanistan and with Al Quida! Then let him get away in the end anyway!
Then he decided to go kill that guy that tried to kill my Daddy. He could've done that without invading and let them have their "Civil War" that they are all just dying to have.

Simple....

It was called 911. Have you forgotten the twin towers? How we were attacked? Your fellow INNOCENT American brothers and sisters who were killed. HAve you forgotten the fireman and policemen who died?

No offense intended but there hasn't been a terrorist attack in the United States since they pissed off George W. Bush.

I'm not saying he is perfect but is is doing excactly what he said he would do and what we AMERICANS expect of him. Strong leadership and a strong message to those who would attack America. He is OUR president. As Americans we back out President and troops in times of WAR.

As for Nam. HOw many other politicians didn't go. I don't see any pictures of Bill or HIllary wearing uniforms or serving in combat.

Your question is invalid because he was fulfilling a vital role right here at home, according to an option offered by the U.S. military.

All service is honorable. Your question is like asking why the guys who arm and service the fighter planes don't fly. The military considers everyone equally as important.

Get over your liberal condition and seek therapy if need be.

I think the Republican mantra forbids any actual fighting the enemy! They just talk forcefully and pose theatrically at the bully pulpit to show they really mean it!
Then they send young people who are struggleing to find funds for college and agree to fund their tuition if they just join the military and die for their country.
It actually works!!!
Thanks
