My service engine soon light came on my 1997 nissan 200sx and I had the vehicle scanned at Autozone in which the code for throttle position sensor came up on the scanner. I bought the part and attempted to change it. I had a difficult time changing it myself and decided to have a mechanic change it the next day. The next morning when I started the car to go to work the light wasn't on anymore. So now I have been driving the car for a couple of days and the light still hasn't came on. Does this mean that the fault code fixed itself or should I drive the car a few more days to see if the fault reappears before getting my money back for the part that I purchased.

Corrosion on the connector pins is what your sensor probably had and by wiggling the black connector you reconnected temporally the TPS Had trouble with that metal clip around the connector? Most times the part is yours " No refunds on electrical parts". I reccomend changing the part and clean out the corrosion inside the black connector. Then there are two adjustments that need to be done. Idle switch on and off and Throttle posistion learn.

Yeah It sounds like it was a loose sensor & While you were trying to fix it you knocked it back. If the light is not on anymore I wouldn't worry about it. wait and see if it comes back on if it does take it back to auto zone and get it rescanned and then take it to a mechanic. Keep the part for a week or so, if it dosent come back on return it if not you have it. Worst case you will just have to buy the part again right....

The code will come on as soon as you start driving if the sensor is bad. It's fixed.

Keep driving the car of course, I would go back and get the computer scanned to see if any codes were still there.....

if the car drives fine ignore the light. These lights make a lot of money for mechanics and garages.
