I recently bought one second hand with a windows media center code but no cd's, and there are no drivers on the internet not even on the acer website, i've installed windows xp but it doesn't seem to recognise the lan card (ubuntu however finds the lan ok)

note : I have another copy of windows xp with a full serial code. however upon installing this the lan card is not found

try checking it out here. the manufacturer website should have it.

you might have to install the chipset driver just in case.

Sorry about your problems but most users that have bought this type computer were not given any software disc's for the Operating System which is far beyond a very odd practice.
You will also find that any Microsoft Software requires a disc and an activation key to unlock.
This practice of acer's has forced users to go out and purchase a clean copy of XP or Vista and re download the operating system with a legit copy of the operating system that will then afford the user 2 things
A clean copy without all the added crrap that acer loads on thaere computers.
2nd It will give you support from microsoft when you access there site and they do a system scan and see that you have a bought and paid for legit copy of there Operating System.
