the present batch of terrorist are from a religion being Muslim

Its more from extreme interpretations of Islam then a country (as for most modern terrorists).

There are countries that use terrorism practices as thier international reach, such as Iran and Syria.

These types of terrorists have been around longer then US influence in the area tracing it back. Utimatly you could go back to the formation of Islam for the roots of modern terrorists as they spread to Christian lands leading to Europe launching the Crusades.

There have always been those that use terror to get their way though, even before Islam.

It's a battle of idealogy, not so much nations. But it could be argued that it's the western countries, primarily the USA, Europe and Australia. But it's strange how Australia hasn't been bombed yet, counting that there is a large minority of muslims.

I think it's got more to do with a countries atitude. There more you have a "them and us" mentality, the worse things get. I don't think Australians have that atitude, but Howard and the far Right unfortunatly own the media.
