Talk to your teachers about it. They will know whether it was a lack of work or if the subjects you took were just not for you. If the answer is that the subjects aren't for you, look at alternative college courses - you don't have to do A-levels to get a job but doing some kind of qualification is a good idea. There are some great GNVQ courses around in more vocational subjects. Think about your strengths and what you really enjoy doing and go with that - there's no point doing any qualification just because you feel you 'should'. If you're still at school, talk to your form tutor or head of Sixth who should be able to help you explore your options. If not, maybe you could go back and talk to a teacher you really liked and repected at your last school - I know my sister did that and the teacher was really helpful. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

As some of the other users have said here, if you are prepared to do the work then stay and retake them.
however, they may be an alternative - perhaps you could retake some invidual modules in order to push your grade up to a c/d/e?
i think nowadays its easy to get a job, but its hard to move up or specialise in something.
atleast with a degree or higher education you can specialise.
i spent four years in my college because i did **** in my gcse's so i went to coll and retook gcse's for the first year and then did a-levels in IT in last two - subsequenty, i realised i wanted to do architecture and then did another a-level and this year im goin to do what i want to and am happy! - even though it took me four years!
so just work hard man, u know you only get this chance of education once - people say, "your never too old to learn" - i think thats bullshit, they say that cuz they didnt put their head down in the first place and are in denial.
good luck.

Have a word with your teachers and see if they think there's a chance of you improving.
If you'd hoped to go to university, there's a chance that your place could be held open until next year, depending on the course and the university. But if you were ungraded in every subject, that could be a slim hope. Sorry, but we must face facts.

I think the only way you can get U's are if you were lazy and couldn't be bothered or you tried your best but could not quite understand what was expected of you. If you want to go for another year, fine, but get on with studying and stop being lazy.
