Vaughn, don't kid yourself. It's not about alleged "false advertising." It's all about politics.

As study after study of voters have, and continue to show (for decades!), Republicans/conservatives are better informed than Democrats/liberals. Dems/libs mostly feel, they don't think.

They are therefore impossible to reason or debate with, because by the second minute they have already called you a fascist, a racist, a sexist, etc.

If they would pay attention to the facts, they would likely not be liberal any more. But they don't, so they don't know much, and what they see on MSNBC (which has low ratings compared to FNC, because most liberals would rather watch American Idol than learn about news, current events, politics) makes sense to them.

Try telling them the facts about studies showing CBS, MSNBC to be biased, or even admissions from their own employees they are biased, vote for Dems 9-1 over Republicans, etc, and they'll be chanting 'Bush lied, troops died' before you can finish your thought.

Eh... please stop regurgitating the same stereotypical nonsense. I am very liberal, and I watch Fox News all the time. I also watch MSNBC, CNN, and BBC News. I realize that most news outlets have some sort of bias slant, which is why I prefer to get my information from a wide variety of sources.

However, I think the reason many people have issue with the FNC is because they are so blatantly right-wing. Yes, MSNBC is slanted to the left, but they do have some very right wing regular contributers. I mean Pat Robertson is frequently on there! They also have Joe Scarborough. Fox News only has Alan Colmes as their token liberal.

Anyway... that being said as a "liberal", I would still prefer to watch Fox News over MSNBC or CBS news any day.

You ask why we hate Fox News "for not being fair and balanced" -- does that mean you recognize they aren't? Since you're comparing Fox to MSNBC, which you also feel is biased, I mean? But MSNBC doesn't call itself "the most balanced news network." So one problem I have with Fox is false advertising. More than that, though, I dislike Fox News ("hate" is too strong a word) because of the attack-mode several of the interviewers go into. I hear more interviewers shouting over their subjects on Fox news than on any other show. Whether you're liberal OR conservative, that doesn't show a lack of bias.

As for CBS--they recognized and apologized for the false documents. When's the last time you heard Fox News apologize for anything?

Fox News is a 24/7 Republican propaganda machine. It comes very close to being the voice of the government. Although such media exist in other countries, the concept is unAmerican.

The other media are controlled by Republican conservative and corporate interests, but they allow considerable editorial freedom. MSNBC has conservative and liberal opinion hosts, and airs mainstream news briefs which follow journalistic standards. CBS was duped by forged documents, but everyone forgets that there was additional evidence corroborating Rather's piece. In any case, it was only episode, and Rather was fired. In contrast, Fox News reporters are fired if the don't insert slant and commentary into the regular news.

I am not a liberal, but who says it is more biased? Fox news isn't conservative biased, it is neo-conservative biased, and real conservatives should dislike Fox News as much as they dislike the rest of them, if not more, because they are taking over your own party.

Not to mention that they have lowered the standard for news programs to the lowest common denominator.

Heart and troll:

my experience is that when i point something out about bush, all bush supporters can do is call names and imply that I am somehow unamerican because I don't agree with Bush's unamerican UN-CONSERVATIVE policies. As for your experience with "liberals," maybe you have run into some young dumb liberals that don't know enough to debate you, or they don't think you are worth debating because you are as stubborn as a mule, or maybe it was on an issue that you are correct on, and they are wrong on. By the way, you can argue that fox news is conservative and fair until you are blue in the face, but that doesn't make it true, and I hope you realize this one day, or else you will think that the conservative thing to do is to support the north american union, or to support the "conservatives" while they ban guns!

I get all my news from Yahoo Answers politics section...

Some of you conservatives are so uptight.

And here's a question: why does Fox News support the war, yet not report on it? I could understand not having a biased opinion one way or another about Bush's war, and not reporting on it...but to wave the flag, and wear those little flag lapel pins, and stump the war, yet not report on the war facts, is a crime in of itself.

btw: I don't watch CNN or Fox. I think they are both a waste of time. I don't watch CBS either, nor NBC. For that matter, I don't watch tv at all (except for one show). Otherwise, it's a complete waste of time...

EDIT: for "heart and troll"

I have to respectfully disagree. Studies "time and again" haven't shown what you state. In fact, it's the complete opposite.

Which states have the best colleges? Who travels to the deep south for their education? Football players, that's about it. Think about it. Which states put the least amount of money into publicly funded education? The bible states. Enlightenment may cause kids to question certain things such as the "great flood". Are bible states red or blue in nature, in general? Well, they are red.

Sorry man, you just got it backwards. But that's ok, I don't fault you.

1. They can not control it.
2. It is threatening their platform, facts are being reviewed of what Bill said he was going to do and didn't. Hillary was a big part of the health care issue back when, soc. security was not reformed. etc.
3. They can not compete against the radio show hosts, they have tried and failed, Gore has a station on satellite TV but is is worthless.
Most other media is owned by democrats, so anything they want will be presented their way.

Religious conservatives and political conservatives seem to have the need to be continuously spoon fed to maintain they belief structures. Religious conservatives need the TV Evangelists and political conservatives need people like Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, and the rest of those of the same ilk. As for myself, I would rather have raw news, unpremasticated and draw my own conclusions from that. Yes, that type of news is available and largely ignored.

All of the media is human and makes errors , all the media is supported by sponsors so has some bias, some less than others.People tend not to hate what goes with their philosophical views, even if its merely designed to do so in order to get them to purchase from the sponsor!

Which one of the news networks commented on the boy, Hornbeck, who had been kidnapped, with this statement?

"The situation here, for this kid, looks to me to be a lot more fun than what he had under his 'old' parents. He didn't have to go to school, he could run around and do whatever he wanted, ... And I think, when it all comes down, what's gonna happen is, there was an element here that this kid liked about his circumstances".

"That's not blaming him, Jane. That's doing my job. My job is to be a journalist."

That sounds fair and balanced to you? Okay. Whatever you say.

Add: Common Sense, Which part of this did I spin? This has the whole interview, does it not? With Greta. For crying out loud, the kid was 11 years old. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/01/17/bill-oreilly-blames-the-victim-for-shame/

You're assumption is based on faulty logic, No channel is more biased than fox news. Conservatives just seem to think everyone that disagrees with them is biased,
