I have a gas built in double oven and hob.

The electric ignition (to the lower oven) and clock/timer seem to have ceased working.

The ignition is still working in the grill and hob.

Who can I call out to fix this problem? Would a electrian deal with a gas appliance? Or is there specialist people who deal with electic bits on gas appliances?

Please help I desperately need this fixing.

I would suggest that you contact the manufacturers service department, despite an often higher than normal charge for time, they will normally have all spares with them and should know their own range of equipment 'inside out'. They will also be qualified to service multi fuel appliances. If you get a ordinary gas fitter or electrician he / they will say it's the others job, and there will be much too-ing and fro-ing and ordering of possibly incorrect parts, which will cost more in the long run.

If the suggestions you have received already don't help you, you may have to resort to looking thru the 'yellow pages' as-it-were.

Better still, do a Google search for appliance repair in your town. There will probably be listings.

If that doesn't work, go (or call) to Home Depot, or Lowes, or another big store like them and ask if they know of any resources you can try. They will often know of private individuals that do work like that on the side.

Good luck!

Look inside your oven and get somone to press the ignition for you to see if there is any spark at all by the burner. If there is, it is not lighting the burner because the gap of the electrode has worn too wide. This could be the cause and you would need to have a new electrode fitted or light it manually with a taper.

Some of these run on batteries just check your brochure just in case they have them fitted at the bottom of the appliance......Otherwise call a corgi fitter that can deal with oven electrical.

If it is Kenmore call Sears. As far as that goes Sears can repair any brand. There are many appliance repair people and most of them work on gas or electric.

it sounds like your electrical connection to your lower oven has become detached,

Your electrician should be able to sort it

is it not covered under warranty if so ring your original kitchen installer
