basically, this is not a question of I.Q. if these individuals used to perform good academically but suddenly declines in academic performance, there are many socio-cultural and interpersonal factors. for example, they may lack the same motivation or enthusiasm as what they had before. another one is, they might be suffering from external factors such as, problems in the family, peer rejection, etc. these are some of the factors. and i tell you, if i say everything right now, i would be consuming thousands of words. i guess i helped you with that ne? take care! ^_^

Emotions overpower reason. We have to understand them or they run us. Since the average person is said to be two or three in emotional maturity you can see things are radically out of hand. It show up in everything as temper tantrums and spoiled children/adults. It could be that they have matured and realize the rat race is for rats and don't buy it anymore. People take drugs when they don't know the secret of happiness, but happiness is the safe drug. Both will cut down on stress, health and mental health problems, It's a trade off, money for sanity, happiness and a cure for cancer. Then the human race has to put money into bombs instead of balms, to suppress the depressed. The cure is thankfulness, greedlessness, love, not judging and forgiving. Worth the hard effort for a sound mind. Hate destroys the hated, but more the hater. So I hope they're not 'medicating.'
