I think who you are is more important than how you look. However, it is the fool who thinks that others will not pass judgement upon their looks.

I see 2 questions: which one is important in an absolute sense versus which one does *people think* as important.
In the absolute sense, I completely agree that being good on the inside is more important.
However, human nature being the way it is, people tend to make quick judgement calls. Its a documented fact that everyone does it. Left to their own devices, most people are more inclined to associate with "good looking" people. After a time, you get to know a person and figure out what they are like. This makes it possible to have a deeper relationship when the looks of a person does not hold that much interest.

In this world today the exterior is more important than the interior because appearances matter so much to everyone

It would be great to have both, and many do, but being good on the inside, your conscience, your spirit, your soul are most important to nurture and develop.

Many people get away with relying on their looks to win over others trust and friendship, even wallowing in the infamy of their style, flair and winning smile.
But what would we learn if our sight was taken away for a week, and we only had our other senses to guide us? We would have heightened hearing ability, and we would linger on the word to extract the picture we needed to form.
I know our decisions would be different, because our own predisposition for assessment of others in the first 5 seconds would not be there.
Continuing good actions of others has always impressed me, and raised my respect for those people, and now I do tend to look into the heart of a person intently to make a reserved judgment call on the depth of what they say. ..and of course, actions speak louder than the word.
Let's take another lesson from the purer souls of children, who for the most part, look past the obviousness and respond to loving actions.

In this world, yes.

We live in a profoundly evil world where beauty on the inside is not reflected on the outside. No matter how charming or charismatic a person is, these are external things the same as physical beauty - you CAN'T see what's on the inside so it doesn't really count.

Wouldn't it be great if being a good person actually made people physically beautiful?

This may be overly-complicated but
I think there are two types of beautiful people (physically) one the prideful that have respect from the culture, they have a strong tendency to be attractive, notice that pride has a lot of self-appreciation in it as opposed to a poor person who is more likely to be raised with shame,,,,
and the other is the people who are beautiful from love of themselves and others..... many artists are this way.....

I do think we can get a good idea of the emotional composition of a person by their looks, and i believe their emotional makeup is what controls your attractiveness on the outside....

simplified.... emit more positive emotions and your physical body will change to reflect your emotions,,,,,

this is done through self-contemplation, being pure( truthful, non-stealing-non manipulative etc) then feel the true emotions in you and express the negative ones in art or to a friend that can listen to your struggle.... practice self love.....
then bless the planet or pray for it.every day ... all of this within a couple years i think anyone will be beautiful.... or at least others perceive that we are....

I'm not gonna say that looks don't matter but there are other things that matter more. People these days though judge a little too soon before getting to know someone first.
