In my home town a house was reputedly haunted by a poltergiest after the young son in the family used a Ouija board.

After local council officials witnessed part of the haunting the entire family was rehoused and absolutely all their belongings - tv, video, settee, beds, photos, carpets, you name it - was burned under supervision at a local incinerator plant.

This isn't a made up story, it actually happened. I wondered back then what had occurred to make the council take such drastic action.

Whatever it was it shows that using Ouija boards can lead to extreme outcomes. The mother of the household still cannot take baths without her husband sitting in the bathroom with her, which she freely admits, though she does get genuinely upset if you talk about the haunting for long.

It doesn't matter whether it is a Ouija board, or a crystal ball. The power isn't in the object itself, therefore, you can use ANY object. The power comes from you own mind. The fact that one decides to place their faith in something other than the Lord Jesus Christ is all it takes for the evil to come and join the party. So the answer to the question is: no, they do not work, the person asking is really asking evil to accompany them, and that always has bad results.

No one knows if they work for real or not, but they are certainly not to be messed with. I have dabbled with a ouija board and suffered no ill effects, no one attempted to speak to me either so I'd be inclined to say no, and assume the 'messages' come from silly people pushing the glass. if I saw a glass move by itself with no fingers manipulating it I might change my mind.
So no, ouija boards do not work in my experience but don't go messing with stuff which we mere mortals know nothing about.

It does not say anything when my gal and I use it. Mom and my brother got answers on it, but they were silly, e.g. it said my lover was Nancy Wilson. I never knew any girl with either of these names. I had been dating Frederika Schreuder from Holland and Kazuko Otaki from Japan, but my kin did not speak Dutch or Japanese. If a Ouija board really worked it would give Dutch or Japanese names asw soon as it does English names...but it gives only answers familiar to the users. They push the pointer to say things they want.

No. It's a bit of an urban legend.
The ouija was originally made as a board game.

Yes they do.
My mother was using one with my father and some friends, she was pregnant at the time, and also had a cake in the oven. The board told her the cake was ready when they had lost track of time, it also told her the baby would be a boy. It was.
I have also used one, with a friend, before my mother told me her experiences with it, we wanted proof that someone was there and it wasn't just the other one pushing the glass around, and there was an almighty bang from the other side of the room, where no sound could have come from on it's own, it was impossible. plus we were alone in the house at the time.
That was enough for me, I've not touched one since

Oui is French for yes. Ja is German for yes. It's a yes yes board. So no it doesn't work. It only works by fear, and it lets in nothing but lies. And spirits can lie. It's not a tool used by witches of old faith. Only because you will never get the answer you truly set out for. You only get the answer you want to hear. Why it's called a yes yes board.

That would be a no.
It was used by ancient cultures, although not exactly the same as the one sold in stores, as a way to communicate with the dead.
If that is what you are after, you have to accept any circumstances that come about because you choose to use it to divine, or, to get answers that you should not be looking for among the dead.
Hope you believe in luck, because you will need it in truck-loads if you play around with one.

All such things work due to the fact our spirits have telepathic and empathic ability. We can "know" each others thoughts, feel their pain. Sometimes we even hear thier voice in our mind.
But it's not a game, as there are many forms of life out there we call spirits. And some can make us sick or even cause the destruction of our physical body. One must show respect and attempt to commune with only the Higher Forms of Life.
The rest will come in line.
