I have this Contact, a US Naval aviator, and his in one of his questions, I felt he needed help cuz he was besieged from all sides by his detractors. I told them that since I knew ZIP about flying, I'm the perfect candidate for a Kamikaze pilot, so lay off him. Next day, his question was entirely deleted. Could be because they were arguing about technical stuff, about vectoring targets while in flight. Of course, it could also be cuz they were all using colorful language in their arguments. But in the heat of passion, someone could say things that are classified. Actually, I went back for the question cuz I wanted to know more about technical stuff. What do you think happened?

In its own heat of passion, yahoo could have lost its senses and have construed what otherwise is a legitimate query about technical maneuverings as encoded messages re: plot to override its power to delete and suspend.

It is not national security they are concerned about, rather, it is their own sweet a** that they are trying to protect. The absolute power to delete and suspend must remain intact and the infallibility of yahoo must remain sacred. Still and all, should you feel the need for sanctuary, you'd know where to go and/or whom to call.

The question could have been deleted for several reasons. One being that it has somehow offended a lot of people and was then reported several times, which caused it to be deleted.
And maybe the reason that it was reported many times and that it offended many in the first place was because many felt that it was a discussion of delicate matters.
It could also have been deleted because he had many detractors, who cold very well have been trolls. There have been several instances when a question, no matter how legitimate, had been deleted simply because it was reported several times by people who just wanted to report it, for no other reason than the fact that they dislike the asker, or are generally against his views.
Don't worry, I don't think the CIA will be knocking on your door anytime soon. ^_~

I seriously doubt it.

In my experience, genuine naval aviators are smart enough not to disclose sensitive and higher level information to an uncleared person or persons--especially not to strangers on the Internet, for crying out loud. The consequences for violating such confidentiality clauses are very severe and all of them know that, and therefore wouldn't ever try.

Chances are, your "contact" is in reality not a naval aviator or a naval anything and, as is the case with Internet personalities, posing as someone he's not.

But most supposedly delicate technical information that may seem classified are really not (meaning they're safe to disseminate). Classified info is very well labeled so there can be no question about the data's security level.

Besides, so much technical specs about military equipment can be derived from just watching the Discovery Channel and all of that must be unclassified information--as secretive as it may appear.

The question you have to ask yourself is first "am I or could I be a threat to national security?" are you working with sensitive military outfits? If you are a teller at the Goodbone meat market just forget it. I as a foreign national at close quarters with NSA got to know of the Yom Kippur war 7 days ahead and I was just advised not to leave post and this only for my own safety as I could move about freely it was just out of fear of anti Americanisms arising from the tensions in the mid east.

Actually if I were I would be extremely worried by now. With you answering this Naval Aviator's question and asking a Naval question re. Aircraft Carriers, I am surprised that you are still free. M aybe they are leaving you alone this week as it is your birthday. Don't answer the door if there is a knock at midnight they might be coming to take you away.
I can see the headline: "Little Green Guy thrown into the Brig"

EVERYWHERE , every countries don't take any chances any more. Whenever, whatever is seen as a "POTENITAL THREATS/SECURITY", every tiny efforts is to stop it.

Anyway, nobody knows who are the terrorists or what they will do.

Better be safe than sorry.

Well ..... if it can make the world any safer ....... I will support it.

Cheers !!
