Do Egyptian Women do the same as in movies??

Question

do they go like "ya lahweteeeeeee, ya msibtehhh" and they slap their faces when something happens???

I have watched a few egyptian movies and found that it's common in the movies.. is it common in real life??

yes they do that,it was a very old tradition from the ancient Egyptians , when something bad was happening , they used to grap mud (from the nile) and slap their faces with (to cover the face with this mud which was called nillah (sign of sadness),, that is why one of the curses used by egyptians ,'' gatak nilah'' which is washing something bad to happen to the other person),,, as for a laheweettiii,,,ya msibti ,, it is very arabic and said in lots of arabic countries

a lot of them but in the law class , the Egyptians movies nowadays represent the law class more than the modern one

some women do that, but only the low class ones. Such things are not really acceptable or liked but some ppl r just used to saying it when some disaster happens to them. But not all women do that, the high majority doesnt.
