Do you think men should be able to have multiple wives since it makes a lot of sense?

To give a analogy: You only need one rooster for the hen house. Therefore, a man can have a lot more children if he has multiple wives but when a woman has multiple men she can only have the same amount of children as with one man. Plus, its just nasty when women sleep around with more than one man. I just think its a good thing, especially during times of war when the male population has been depleted or there is excess of females to males. In addition, many righteous men such as Abraham and King David of the Bible had multiple wives.

Didn't you read the question from the guy who had one po'd wife in the house and one po'd wife living with her mom? Poor man couldn't go home, remember? Why would you want to put yourself in a position where the odds are stacked so high against you?

And it is nasty when a man sleeps around with multiple partners, wife or no wife. Who wants to kiss that?

We already discussed "when the male population has been depleted" remember? One birth every 7 seconds, one death every 13 seconds....remember? The poplulation, male and female, hon, is not depleted. The word in ecological circles is "Overpoplulated."

Also, we are not in a situation where there is an "excess of females to males". On average, the ratio of one sex to the other is 50/50.

I think, my boy, if you want to rule the roost you are going to have to go buy some chickens.

Prophet Mohammed had more than 4 wives, because he is a different case, some rules didn't apply for the prophet. For example, praying after 3rd and 4th prayers is prohibited for Muslims, but not the prophet. Also, the prophet said that his sickness is a lot harder than peoples sickness. Clarifying some of the points mentioned above: 1 - People say that Mohammed married his daughter in Law!! That is wrong. Mohammed never had a son. He adopted a Son, then Allah prohibited adoption because babys will be related to parents who aren't really their parents. Mohammed married this woman after she got divorced to clarify this point by saying that his adopted son is no longer considered his son. 2 - Ayisha's wedding!! The prophet married her when she was 6 years old, then consumated the marriage when she became 9. Women used to grow up faster in the past. When Ayisha became a full grown woman, the prophet consumated the marriage. In 1800s California raised the legal age to have sex to 12 years old, now it is 18 years old. Now do the same thing, but 1400 years ago.

Oh yes, it's the stud versus the whore analogy again. Men are praised for sleeping around, whereas women are just sluts. It's a pointless double standard to make men feel better about themselves. I am currently seeing a real man who does happen to see other women too. You know what? He may not like that I see other men besides him, but he feels he would be hypocritical to say anything about it. We are open and honest, and we respect each other. It actually makes our relationship stronger. That being said, if men can have multiple wives, women can have multiple husbands. It's not all about having multiple children. There's more to a marriage than that.

(*laughter*) Unless you want one really tired rooster, you may want to rethink that.

However, with multiple male partners a woman has more than one male to support the family unit. If the only purpose of women is to procreate, and men are to go fight wars, it's more practical for a woman to have multiple spouses. Then the children are better cared for. Since women aren't supposed to do anything other than breed and take care of men, based on your "theory", then it makes more sense MY way.

I have a reality check for you, it's just as nasty when men sleep around with more than one woman.

I think we all understand the concept of males being able to procreate in unlimited numbers.

In my opinion this is not the glorious attribute you make it out to be. Given the sense of responsibility (or should I say Lack Of) of father's who abandon their families at what currently is an alarming rate.

Someone has to support the little procreations.....and a lot of times, "Someone" is the state. Or more specifically, you, the taxpayer.

I'm with Kaia, lately, economically, a family needs as many incomes as possible and far less procreating. I recently saw an article that said it costs 280,000 Dollars to raise a single kid.

Oh, yeah, send in that extra Daddy and his income, please....

Try to broaden your view past lusting for multiple partners in a marriage and towards being able to support this family you so advocate having.

This mentality, where men procreate with multiple partners, married or not, is driving our society into bankruptcy.

The states can't support minors at the rate you guys are having and abandoning them.

I knew one guy had 9 kids (last count) with 7 different women. He neither supported nor interacted with even one of his children. How is this a good thing, dear?

They even had to put restrictions on acquiring a passport, in order to relieve the states of the financial strain.

Costs are skyrocketing and income is not.

$280,000 to raise one kid.

My Grandfather had two family's. One with fourteen kids and the other close to nine. Some of the kids names were even the same.

Personally I wouldn't mind the variety of women and I believe my "mojo" could handle the sexual aspect of it ; ), however the psychological complications though could become an issue that may be difficult to deal with.

It would be quite unfair to the women,unless of course that is also what they preferred,in which case hey what the heck.
