That is defiantly a good question. I would think that the question should require a knowledge of the subject asked about. BUT....a lot of the questions are so silly, unoriginal, and have no real intelligent reply that the asker can't be expecting a straight answer. I don't think a lot of people read the community guidelines. I also think a lot of people answer questions whether they know it or not just for the two points!! I've been guilty on one or two occasions when the question is ridiculous and unimaginative. It's about time somebody asked this!!! Kudos to you!!!

Hello Lionhrt,

Both,

When someone asks a question, they normally want to know the answer because they don't know it. When they are given that answer, it is not always correct but the asker often has no way of knowing.

When I answer a question I try to direct the asker to the relevant website so he/she can confirm the answer for themselves.

When it is a question or request for personal help or advice, the asker very often has a preconceived idea about what they want that advice to be and when the answer given does not agree with their idea, they often either do not rate it or give it the thumbs down. Of course when the answer agrees with the way the asker is thinking that is likely to attract a thumbs up or best answer.

Depends on the question, but for me, 90% of the time I pick an answer based on the truth.

depends on people to people but according to me,the best answers are chosen on what they want to hear & whatever rocks their boat.they hate it when someone points out that they are wrong & then they report abuse for that particular person.

Cheers

I think it depends on the voters mood, and what the question was, or if the answer was off the wall and funny.
