Lets face the facts here: Science and technology are rapidly 'evolving'. These do have some advantages as it rises solutions to some issues, but then it also does raise concerns - one of which ARE concerning biotechnology, its usage and us (both present and future).
I can understand the intention behind biotechnological applications, I can see why they are being 'done' - but I do not approve of any of them. Things like Transgensis (transfering genes from one species of organism into another for traits), Xenotransplantation (transplanting organs of one species of organism into another), Cloning, Stem cell research ... - just to name a few - are alarming. The ideas behind them are to meet human demands - for example the shortage of organ donor, or perhaps finding cures for life-threaten illnesses. But really... is it worth it?
In my eyes, no. I believe doing all these things defeat the purpose of being 'human' - whether you are an evolutionist, a creationist or an atheist... we all have to face one fact - that everything that lives, everything that comes into this world - must make its exit too. We all must die at one stage or another. It's a fact we have to accept, and shouldn't toy with. By making these ‘options’ available… what are we really trying to do? It’s just a step towards being ‘immortal’ or ‘living forever’ or even ‘playing god’. This defies what the bible, nature and evolution allow.
Playing with genes, and organs of not only humans but also animals is of course cruel - but it is also not fair. How many lives will it destroy? What new problems will it create? And of course look at the cost of it all!
Who says that “That next pig’s heart in a human isn’t going to introduce the next “Mega flu” (like Birdflu, SARS or even AIDS). If a problem like this arises from what was thought to be a solution towards something else, then we are only creating bigger problems for ourselves in the future. Who knows? We may even induce extinction on ourselves, and other species of animals.
And then of course there are the human-animal hybrids which are just plain wrong! Again, it doesn’t matter if you believe in god or evolution – either way, nature didn’t allow it to happen. And if that’s the way it all started – that’s the way it should always be too! How horrible would it be to have a humanzee (human + chimp) for a daughter? Or perhaps a Gorilla-man for a husband? (not in reference to wild/hairy men). Could you emotionally allow yourself to go through that? And be the guinea pig for the Science society?
I wouldn’t.

"...mixing animals with humans." Is it wrong for many diabetic patients to be treated with insulin extracted from pig pancreas? Or are you just upset with the idea of a chimera?

I agree with you; Don't mess with nature!
See the nature signs; disaster, earthquake, flood, Tsunami, Typhoon etc, all are happening concurrently all over part of the world.
The miracle is not given to this descendent, but watch the signs.
The Almighty is Mercy but don't mess. The time is coming.

If I would die without the heart of a racoon or the liver of a pig...I'd rather live.

humans are animals. this 'mixing' you speak of is all in your head. i think you're reacting to your purity instincts inappropriately.
