I told him that that's like saying blacks should stop complaining about slavery, and he said it's ok for them because slavery was worse. I think that its stupid to accuse anyone of complaining about something horrible that happened and its stupid to compare them, but what can i say to him to make him stop acting like a bigot?

well although I feel for those that had to endure the horrific events of the holocaust, its about time to move on.. I mean, majority of the people now werent even alive then... There are more pressing events taking place in the world that need attention... In Sudan, there is ethnic cleansing going on.. thats equal to a holocaust... There are still people waiting for homes in New Orleans that is now 2years on after Katrina.. There are muslims being slaudered everyday in Iraq... The list is endless.. If someone is upset about an event that took place over 50years ago.. maybe they can focus their energies on more recent events to help...

I have ended friendships with people who are bigoted in this way, so I understand. It's hard to get a friend to change their negative ways. Someone who has a strong bias against a particular group may not be aware that they have this bias. Maybe your friend's parents were strongly anti-Semitic, and he heard a lot of similar comments while growing up, so he thinks this opinion is normal and not bigoted. You may tell your friend that it's important to remember all people who have ever been through horrors such as slavery or the holocaust, so that we can be sure to never do such a thing again. You may want to talk to your friend about his anti-Semitic feelings, and ask him where they came from.

Good luck!

well, i don't think either is worse... slavery and the holocaust were both very horrible times for ppl. i don't think there is anything you can really say. maybe help your friend to understand that neither is worse. why should a jewish person stop acknowledging such a devastation? your friend should stop worrying about other ppl and start worrying about what he says... b/c he sounds like a bigot, and i'm sure he doesn't want ppl to perceive him in that way.

Well, your friend is a tard. Although I believe people should focus on the present and future, we certainly should not ignore the past.
There have been many instances of genocide and oppression throughout history. People love to hate and control others.
So, unfortunately if your friend didn't wake up when confronted with your initial protest he will likely never change.

nicely, NO. The 'why' of my answer could be this: Christianity is appeared at i think of as a perception device. yet maximum christians don't have the slightest CLUE what Judaism is all approximately. As for Anti-semitism, the preaching of 'saving the Jews' is an instantaneous affront!.. Even the hot testomony teaches that the Jews are "G-d's people"... G-d bargains with them WHY attempt to transform them. you're born a Jew yet in spite of if or not you learn Judaism is your determination. you at the instant are not born a christian... you grow to be a christian... And in case you opt for to appreciate from the prespective of somebody who has been in touch in this situation for it sluggish now... The historic Jesus of Nazereth is frequently a fantasy as portrayed via Western christianity... evaluate this, he replaced into not a chippie. He replaced right into a chippie's SON. He replaced into got here upon ARGUING with the elders (the extreme clergymen! the scientists of their day!) on the age of twelve...! He replaced into arguing Torah! Even I even have not attained something like that time. I carry that the guy universal as Jesus of Nazereth replaced into in fact himself a clergyman or knowledgeable in Rabbinical study... he replaced into particularly literate, and that i firmly carry he replaced right into a pronounced prodigy and his call replaced into Joshua! (Yeheshua) in Hebrew. The "Christ" is a Greek term which skill "Annointed"... He did not come to 'save the worldwide', he got here to the Jews! And purely the Jews! cf the hot try. his 'apostles' come to him after a meeting and ask: "why do you prepare us those issues and not the persons" (that are regularly gentile) and he replies 'with the aid of fact i could could desire to heal them and that they could be "converted"... this has plenty to do with the classes on the 'blended multitude'... you will could desire to do your person study on that. yet no, i don't think of it particularly is a sin... is is merely for the main area... genuine. Christianity has usurped a faith and thoroughly mangled the truths of the classes... and that i'm not a Jew, nor a christian or the different faith, i'm an ordained minister yet i'm particularly ecclectic now-a-days... studied too plenty history and experieced too plenty on the path to choose for to declare ANY faith,.. faith is yet another remember.

Your friend definitely should talk with a Holocaust survivor, or maybe read books authored by someone who survived it, or the just regarding the matter itself. Millions of people were killed during the Holocaust and for him to make light of it, says little positives about your friend.

Have you ever tried telling him that his idealogy is not sound? Also, what does someone elses complaints have to do with him? He needs to walk a couple of miles in other's shoes to understand. As far as what you can say to him, I really don't believe anything will change how he thinks, but you can let him know that certain beliefs that he has should be kept to himself as it will only cause discordance in your friendship.

Well. Darn Jews. Complaining about a little thing like several million people murdered. I'm sure his day to day problems are far more difficult. He sounds rather immature.
