She makes up symbols (like Japanese or Chinese) and attaches phonetic sounds to each one. then correlate it to an alphabetical character. She has done this several different times for her own enjoyment.
So my question is what kind of career needs skills like these? She is very creative, and good at math.
Thanks!!

If you're really good at talking to people and gaining friends, you should look into getting a sales job. Just don't get a job that's tied into real estate right now (such as furniture, mattresses, etc.), or cars because those two industries are suffering tremendously. Also, look into utility companies that have been around for a while. They usually pay very good and the attrition rate isn't so high. Or you can look into unions for stability and competitive pay. I can name off all sorts of fields that would have some appeal, but it ultimately comes down to what your passion is. Your fork in the road will eventually near and you may be too late to have a choice in the matter; something may be forced on you that you don't really like doing. Whenever I can't find something, I just Google it. And if you know a lot of people that respect you and your opinion you can always have a stab at one of those network marketing companies (you know, the businesses that a lot of people call "pyramids"). Some of those things are legal and they actually work if you're good at it. One of my friends is in some business called Monavie or something and he's making some decent money at it. Or you can get into the nursing industry. That's going to be a booming business in the coming years because all of the baby-boomers are going to need health care when the time comes. I have a friend who's a registered nurse and she makes about $95,000 a year. If you don't mind blood, mean patients, and all the other stuff that comes with working in a hospital, you can make some decent dough. I hope you find something soon that suits you!

You don't write how old your daughter is, but it doesn't sound like she's at an age where she needs to make up her mind about what profession to chose yet.

Frankly, I think this is something you should jjust let her enjoy and develop. It doesn't have to be put to any use by making a career persepctive of it. It's useful in its own right, because it broadens her horizon, improves her imagination etc. So let her carry on with this, and it may end up leading her to pick a certain career direction, or becoming a hobby, or having no effect or her future life whatsoever. Just give it some time and let it take its course.

Unless your daughter is college age or near it, you shouldn't even be thinking of what kind of careers she should look into. Let her explore her creativity on her own without restricting her in anyway. Also, just because she is talented in this area doesn't mean she will want to have a career anyway related to it. I was very into drawing and art as a child and my career has nothing to do with that.

Sounds to me like this is a kid that should get into computers. The combination of creativity, language interest and math is awesome. I bet she could create software better than most people. Then, after she's gotten tired of that, she could write the next series of books to make even more money than the Harry Potter series.

She is creative. I think these careers might be good:

- Artist
- Computer Programming
- Any science related career, specially math, or physics.

Although, if she is really good at math, I would keep her away from the artist field, and of the 3, I think she would enjoy Computer Programming better.

Cryptography. Cryptologists both invent (like your daughter is doing) and crack codes.

And generally cryptoloists are gifted mathematicians.

Cryptography would be a field she would probably excell in, many government jobs in intelligence and national security.
