I thought the same thing while I was pregnant with number 1. It took me about 6 weeks to really get used to it even though I picked it! Don't forget, you don't have to submit the papers to register the birth straight away. You could go through a couple of names in the first few weeks and then settle on one that you really really love and submit the paper work. Don't worry about anybody saying anything about not naming the baby straight away, my girlfriend had a baby earlier in the year and took 3weeks to finalise a name for her (ended up with Anira which suits her so much better than the original name they picked).
Sometimes you need to get to know your baby before giving them a name that they have to live with for the rest of their lives. Its a huge decision so don't rush it.
Good luck

This is why I suggest that you pick a name as soon as possible after finding out the sex of the baby. Then you can use the name when referring to the baby before birth. If you do this for a few months, then you will have plenty of time to either get used to it or know that it is wrong. We called our baby by his name from around 7 months on. We also withheld the name from everyone else. Nobody else would know it until it was final. That way we didn't get any discouraging remarks from family members and other people who we wouldn't let choose the color of our living room- much less our baby's name.
Good luck!

I have the same fear; I picked out baby names the day I found out I was pregnant. Since then, I have had a couple nightmares that something happened during labor, and I woke up and everyone was keeping my baby from me. One time, it was a baby girl, and everyone was calling her Melissa. Another time it was a boy, and everyone was calling him Micah. I am having a boy, and I don't know if I should keep the name my husband and I chose, or if I should name him Micah!? It's very hard b/c your child will be stuck with whatever name you give him for the rest of his life. Just try to pick something that is nice and has a couple different nick names so he can choose what he wants to be called. That's what we did. Good luck!

at first - i choose to congratulate you on staying at school - great decision. i'm no longer a youngster mom yet each working mom has to handle this. My son is in daycare from 9:30 to 4:30 each weekday. He is familiar with i'm his mommy and has an excellent smile each and every time i pass %. him up. do no longer subject - you infant will understand that your his/her mommy. solid success!

six months ago, i was right there with you.
i was pregant with my son "ethan cole"
i thought that i would regret naming him that,
i wasn't too sure why.
but after i gave birth, his name just seemed to really fit him well.
i looked into his cute little eyes and thought, "how could i possibly regret naming you such an adorable name?"
Don't worry, you will have no regrets either-
once you see your baby,
the name (whatever name) just clicks. =]
all my best,
brittney xoxo

Before your baby is born, the name will simply "feel" right and you will not regret naming your child his/her name.

I never feared that, but my baby was named after people I admired and loved.

in most states you have a year to change the name if you don't like it
check with the hospital when you fill out the birth certificate form
