I will go out on a limb here and say that it will last long enough to inform Americans that they plan to put the NAU in place and they want it done peacefully, thats the first step. You also might be interested to know that the Census Bureau has laid down orders that the government will cease rounding up illegals in 2010. Is it just a coincidence that 2010 is the NAU magic number? The reason they gave was so they could properly count heads of all the illegals. Give me a break. The illegals don't even want the Census to know they are here. I didn't know the CB carried that much weight with gov officials did you?

Actually I have been asking the same question. It is the only thing he hasn't done yet. I think he might try something like that before he and Cheney go out with an impeachment or maybe to hold the office longer. People don't seem to realize the signs are all pointing to this and this administration has become so brazen with their lies and deceit. FEMA in charge could be a very scary thing indeed. I didn't know it until the other day but if this scenario ever takes place FEMA doesn't even have to go by the constitution of the US. They can pretty much do what they want. Republicans need to think long and hard about this matter.

The "big plan" is for a BIG (nuclear erasing a city) terrorist attack in the USA and a complete worldwide shutdown of two to three weeks. During that time the world economic system will be destroyed and a new single electronic currency will be introduced regulated by a single world central bank. Martial Law will be a permanent fixture in the USA from this time on. There will be no "resistance" despite what the big talkers here say...there simply are not enough of us with balls left to cause much of a problem for the military/mercenary troops and our militarized police forces.
This is what I've read about the various "think tank" planning committee plans.

You're right, it would last until "the crisis was over".
The "Enabling Act" that the Germans passed (albeit under dures) in 1933 gave the Reichskanzler unlimited authority for a period of two years. He used those years to ensure that every subsequent Reichstag would reconfirm said absolute authority.
I have made the case for the similarity between the Enabling Act and the PATRIOT Act before. The latter seems to come up for periodic reauthorizations, and every single time it somehow gets expanded. The Crisis, apparently, doesn't permit us to relax a bit. Not even for a minute.
The good news is that I don't think American troops or cops are to the point that they would open fire on Americans yet. Some of these foreign mercenaries who're getting citizenship for their year in Iraq might someday, but I don't think "The Troops" would.

I'm sorry, my connection speed is really slow so I can't watch the video. I'm going to guess that this might be related, apologies if not:
On September 21, 2006, Bush submitted a continuation of national emergency, thus renewing Proclamation 7463 of September 14, 2001.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/09/20060921-13.html
http://www.fas.org/irp/news/2001/09/fr091801.html
In May 2007, Bush signed the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive (NSPD 51/HSPD-20).
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html
(HINT... open the link and search for 'congress')
Unlike the National Emergency Act that sets up congress as a balance, the new directive:
1. does not contain any provisions allowing for congressional approval or oversight.
2. creates the new position of National Continuity Coordinator without Congress approval
3. negates any requirement that the president submit proof of the existence of a National Emergency to Congress

The Executive Orders that Bush has implemented are here to stay unless they are rescinded or superseded by new ones. That's way too much raw power in place for the next president to (mis)use for their advantage. I hope people consider very carefully when voting next year, because we need a president and Congress that will commit to cleaning up this mess.

There was an attack and all we got was a shambling, limping, staggering entity called 'Homeland Security' that lurches and has a bolt in it's neck! I doubt if armed soldiers in the streets and military officers sitting in place of elected representatives would make a difference. Our military can't even deal with the Iraqi resistance, much less any kind of resistance to heavy handed military rule here. If in a republic such as ours, you suspend the constitution, then you suspend all law everywhere and replace it with force...yet there isn't enough force available to deal with situations that only co-operation can cope with. I don't think martial law is going to be a problem. The problem now is getting rid of the Bush Junta and the concept of blue and red states and becoming the 'United States' again.

I did not know that the law 'posse comitatus' had been rescinded.
There is NO situation that should involve martial law. As for the clergy, I don't believe, so there's nothing they can do for me anyway. I guess all those 'faith based initiatives' were used to buy the clergy.
