Those numbers are supposed to mean where you are putting your fingers on the strings. The four numbers represent the top four strings of the guitar. So, for example, according to these diagrams, to play D you are supposed to not put a finger on the fourth string, fret the third string at the second fret, fret the second string at the third fret, and fret the first string at the second fret. Hence 0-2-3-2.

BUT I'm confused because only four strings are represented here, and the guitar has six strings. Eek... I have always thought that if you're going to put in the time to practice a chord formation, you might as well learn the real thing. So I'd recommend that you use the standard chord formations for these chords and forget about the four-string versions.

By the way, if you are trying to learn this particular song, this particular arrangement seems to be quite simplistic and might not sound like the real thing. Also, it's questionable in terms of copyright law. I suggest that you get the sheet music, which you might very well be able to see at your local library.

Have fun playing the guitar! I've played for some 15 years and I'm sure I'll continue to enjoy it my whole life.
