this was a political statement by both China and Russia that they have more than just regional power....expect a new cold war...and with China becoming the largest economy in the world...expect them to have very good weapons...They believe, and probably rightly so, that the US is trying to become even more powerful and dominating of world affairs....If the roles were reversed, would you have reason to suspect Russia....say if they occupied the southern part of Central America in order to "bring peace" to the region?

Russia and China are never going to be America's "strong" allies. The U.S. has pissed every nation in this world off too much and for too long. And seeing that both Russian and Chinese economies have been growing about 4-5 times faster than the U.S.'s consistently for the last 10 years, why should they be allies in the next 20 years? Crazies we could control? That sounds selfish. The U.S. government has no right to control any other population except its own. If it had stayed that way, 2 million Vietnamese, 30,000 Nicaraguans, and countless other civilians would still be alive today.

China is turning to Russia because of instead of working together with the US to solve problems in food and toy production. The US would just rather point fingers and blame. If US corporations were so concerned about the welfare of US citizens, test the quality of the products before you accept the contracts. But because of low wages and high profits... they sacraficed homegrown US companies for business with foreign ones. I think maybe China has had enough blame and pointing fingers. They are now looking elsewhere, the potential was there for US/China relations, but too much anti-chinese sentiment and prejudice has strained a tentative relationship to it's breaking point.--Now we are on our own! I'm sure the Chinese are saying "good luck and good riddence!"
