I wake up every morning at 6 am and have school from 8 am- noon then I usually go to work from like 4 pm-10 pm. So obviously, I stay pretty active and I've heard that usually when you move around the baby sleeps? It also seems like I'm under a lot of stress lately and I'm sure I'm not getting enough sleep as I should be!

Anyway, my baby really only kicks me when I've been laying down for like 30 minutes or so. Is this normal?! It's really got me worried that he doesn't move around much! My friend who is pregnant says her baby moves around when she's at work and even wakes her up at night. Mine used to move around a lot but it seems like he's slowed down a lot this last couple weeks.

So maybe what I need is some reassurance that everything is gonna be okay. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?! (Nothing rude please...) PS. My ankles are SOO swollen!!

I just think everyone is different. As long as you do feel your baby moving at times, then you know he/she is still alive in there. Maybe he/she is extremely comfortable.

Now when you don't feel the baby move for more then 2 days, call your doctor.

When you're this busy, it's east to not notice when baby is moving too. They're usually more active about an hour after you eat something, so make a concerted effort to do kick counts every day. About an hour after you eat, take a break and sit or lie down somewhere to do it. Put your hands on your belly and really focus on your baby. At the first kick/movement, check the time. Count the movements until you get to ten, then mark the time again. If your baby is moving at least 10 times in 60 minutes (if you've eaten within a few hours), it is normal. If baby is not moving 10 times in an hour, even if you've eaten recently, then you should let your doctor know and they can do more tests to see if something is actually wrong.

Your baby does have periods of sleep and wakefulness, so doing the test after eating is a good idea for a sleepy baby.

Also, make sure you are getting plenty of water (2 Nalgene bottles per day is the minimum for people who aren't pregnant... just so you know). If you have low amniotic fluid levels, the baby may not be able to move around as much as it should be able to and it could be part of the cause for your swollen ankles. Drink more water, juice, Gatorade, etc!

Make sure you are eating healthy snacks and meals throughout the day, regardless of your activities. You need to be eating a lot of calories right now and if you're that busy working, you may be putting it off for too long. You should be eating at least 2500 calories per day, most likely. Start counting your calories and such, do it for a few weeks, and make adjustments to make sure you're getting all the nutrients, calories, etc that you need. It's very important and can help you feel better, perform better, get the baby what it needs better, and could help that swelling and avoid other pregnancy complications.

So... kick counts every day, keep track of your diet, drink LOTS of water, and take time to relax every day.

My baby is so spiradic when it comes to moving. I think that it has a lot to do with my lifestyle though. I work two jobs and I am going to school. I picked one day of relaxation, every Tuesday I relax, nap, eat, drink tons of water, watch TV, etc. He likes it. It seems that every Tuesday I have a more active baby. Obviously by Wednesday with so much to do, he begins his sleepiness again and doesn't do much until the next Tuesday. I think it is your lifestyle, not that it is a bad one, you have to do what you have to do. I am 29 weeks pregnant and this has been occuring for a while now. Don't worry! Please get your rest!

well i feel my baby move pretty much throughout the day since 23 weeks. And no matter what i was doing, i can feel the baby move or kick. But i think as long as u can feel movements from ur baby everyday then things sshould be fine. But mention to the dr if u are concern.

I have had days where I was sure my baby was dead, only to have a swift kick wake me up. Call your dr, a noticable decrease in movemnt could be a problem, or he could just be a quieter baby than others. I know that there is a big differnence in the frequency and intensity of this babys movements compared to my first son's movements.
