The term FORMAT is used to WIPE the Hard Drive Clean
Delete Everything.
Remember you will need the Original Operating Sytem Disc to re-download the Operating System.
Or if you choose you can do this with a Retail Copy of Vista. Remember as well read as you install

If you have decided to format your hard drive then be cautious about your data. BACKUP your data and then only format the hdd.
Because after formatting all the saved data will get erased and you might lose some of your important things.......and after that you can install Vista with the CD ..

When you format a drive, it wipes everything. To re-install Vista after formatting, you must have the setup disc.

i reformat my computer regularly just to remove virus that cant be fixed by my antivirus... its really safe and good maintenance...
but if your going to reformat your laptop.. you should have first all the cds you need like OS cd, drivers cd, software for your cdrom(burning.. etc..) and some important programs your using..
reformat meaning to erase everything in your harddrive.. your files will be deleted and its like the 1st time you used it... like factory default settings...
if you originally have win vista, its ok to reinstall it.. but if you have xp currently, and want to switch to vista, you should 1st check if your computer specification.. bec you need a GB of memory and a certain space on your harddrive for your computer to work with vista..
win vista have incompatibility issues with other software and hardware bec its just new in the market..:)
hope this helps..

It depends on if you are using the manufactures disk or not. If so yes and if not you will need to update most of your drivers.
abest way would be to download your ethernet adapter drivers and copy to disk if you do that then you can possiably go to windows updates after install and get the rest.
If not at least you will be able to search online for what you need.

Yes you can reinstall vista as long as you have the disk and CD Key that came with your notebook. Reinstallation only becomes difficult when hardware changes are made. (I know from personal experience -.-")
