Which do you prefer? For me, I can type very fast however I go too fast and I end up writing worse. It takes a lot longer to write with pen and paper, and there's a lot of scribbling where I make small corrections...but I think its better in the long run. What do you think?

With my being a writer, I definitely prefer pen. Computers to me anyway, seem to make my writing feel less unique, and impersonal. I write so much at times, I get callouses on my finger from where the pen pressed against it.
Although the answer to this question can vary greatly. If one has illegible, lousy penmanship, then it may better benefit them to use a computer. But i still feel the pen is mightier than the sword!!!!

I love to write with a pen sometimes, but if I'm trying to write a story or something like that, then I need to use the computer.
My thoughts go way too fast for my hand to keep up with! *lol* At least I can type fairly quickly and if anything is spelt wrong, wrote in the wrong order, etc, it's far easier to fix.

Well, I like the computer, because I can type a lot faster than I write, it doesn't waste paper, and I don't have to scribble things out. But I also love the ink and paper bit, because I can bring it with me, so my writing isn't limited to when I'm in front of the computer. Right now, I've been doing my writing on paper, though.

I always write with pen. I enjoy the process of writing. Even if I have to stick pages in composition notebooks when I add a scene or something. It's great having an actual book when I'm done. Then I type. I hate typing.

I too face the same problem- pen or type? Penning my words is cumborsome as I make a lot of corrections and my handwriting is aweful. So typing is the best, with all the facilities of the word preocessors of today putting in your words is easy and accurate to the core. So its typing for me over penning.

I enjoy writing things out with pen and paper myself. It does take longer that way, but there is something that feel so impersonal about typing. It's much nicer to see it written out in my own handwriting. Plus, I often find computers distracting while I don't tend to have that problem with notebooks and pens.

Using a word processor is the only way to go for me. I used to write stories in plain college-ruled notebooks. That was when I was a kid and computers were practically non-existent.

I can type pretty darn fast, and when I'm writing, I want to get the ideas down as quickly as possible, before they change or disappear.

Correcting/Rewriting your manuscript is far and away easier on a word processor.

The old school approach of writing with a pen/pencil sounds great, but try writing 500 plus pages in that fashion. Not much fun.

For anything longer, I prefer typing - just because revising and editing it is so much easier. It's also better if I want to give my writings to someone to proof-read - my handwriting isn't always too legible.

I do use handwriting, though, for anything short and personal - birthday greetings, notes to friends, letters etc. It's just so much more personal and shows you've made an effort (in my case, also one to write legibly :o)).

I agree with the first answer. If I make a huge mistake, I can fix it on a computer. I need to start over with pen and paper.

During my old job, I used a table PC. That is basically a laptop computer with a turnable, face down screen where you can use a special pen. Much like a touch screen.
