I bought a dvd in Ireland, it won't play?

Question

I bought little miss sunshine and garden state in Ireland, but when I try to play them on my dvd player it says that I can't play it in the region. How do I fix it so that I can watch them at home.

The problem with changing the region in the DVD player is that you can only do this so many times. Dpeending on your player, after as little as 2 or 3 changes, it locks it up and you cannot change it anymore. So only do that if you want to watch each movie once (which you wouldn't, since you bought them).

Your best bet, like others have said, is to buy them here in the US. I don't know if you just vacationed there or if you go back and forth from the US to Ireland, but you can get a DVD player from Ireland. That would be cheaper than buying a new multi region DVD player.

Ah! I get this all the time! It's a foreign disc, so you need a foreign dvd player. It's like putting a square block into a circular hole. Re-buy them in America. We did this with a Liverpool soccer game on a dvd we bought in Ireland.

You dont need to buy a whole new dvd player just change the region on it...that is unless you have a really woeful dvd player that doesnt let you do that... if thats the case you def. need to splash out and buy a multi-region dvd player its worth it...

Either rebuy them in region 1 format OR replace your dvd player with a multi-region one.. (that will play any region)
