And before you start blaming Bush, just remember, that Putin is former KGB. I've said since the beginning that he couldn't be trusted

I thought they were about to kiss at their picnic over at camp David...I thought they were getting along so well.

If I remember correctly, didnt Bush say he looked into his eye and saw his soul? Thats cute.

I mean who can blame Bush, I saw those topless shirts of Putin fishing in Siberia...lol

Actually...it is Bush's fault. Or maybe a combo of Bush and Clinton.

After the USSR went capitalist, they were strapped for cash and the military got shafted. This included the end of Cold War era bomber patrols - the Russians couldn't afford the fuel or maintenance to keep them going. Besides...the war was over tand the Americans would soon stop their patrols (because we do the same).

Well we didn't. Clinton didn't. Bush didn't. We still send up bomber patrols against the former USSR. Never stopped.

Well Putin couldn't do anything about really. The Russians couldn't afford to. Well, now he can.

Wanna know why he can? Iraq War. You follow the price of oil? Do you know what are the top two exports from Russia are...Arms and Energy (oil). Gee...this war of Bush has now given Putin the money to resume patrols.

And the fact we never stopped doesn't help either.

So yeah...Bush shares the blame, probably the lions share.

The cold war is over. But the US is the most powerful economy and military power in the world. Russia has the second largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world, and a nation which occupies 1/4 of the land surface of the earth. Of course they are going to be competitive. And, yes, America has been making many moves threatening to Russia. America began signing treaties with many former CICS countries a decade ago, and placing troops in those countries. Now they are building a large missile defense system right on Russia's border.

Of course the Russians will react. Americans go insane when a small country like Cuba or Venezuala or El Salvador or Nicaragua dare stand up to them. If Russian troops were being stationed in Mexico, or if Russia began placing "defensive weapons" in Mexico, Americans would poop their pants.

Yes, Putin is trying to resume the Cold War with the US... I'll give you that. But Bush has initiated a Cold War with everyone, even with our own traditional allies. The next president is going to have to do a LOT to make us trustworthy again.

But yeah, Putin is trying to resume the a conflict with the US. I'll give you that.

Bush's daddy is former CIA...what's your point? Answer me this.. who can be trusted?

Our military is far removed from the Cold war.. the 600 ship navy is down to 290..half the bases and shipyards are now closed. Apparently, the cost of fuel and health care has done the same for the military as the civilian sector...the prices caused drastic cutbacks.

The Russians could never be trusted. How many neanderthals do you trust? Putin has always wanted an empire. They have also been funneling nuclear material to Iran. Patton was right. We should have destroyed them after WW2.

As far as I'm concerned the cold war never ended.
Russia hasn't stopped supplying weapons to our enemy's and our allies enemy's as well.
Communism has disguised itself as Liberalism and is doing everything within it's power to turn America along with the rest of the free world into a Communist Regime.
The cold war is in fact alive and doing very well and unless we wake up and realize it we may just one day wake up and wonder what happened when all of our freedoms have been taken away.

Sorry, bud. This is one thing that is 100% Bush's fault. What do you expect Putin to do when Bush decides to station missles on Russia's border? Remember how we reacted when the Soviets tride that in Cuba?

I think it goes well beyond Putin and Bush. It's more politically viable for both sides to be involved.
