Every state has friendly people that live & work there, it just depends on your attitude toward them and how you interact with them. But the Number One answer on this has to be --> (drumroll please) --> Pennsylvania! Now, I'm from the Chicago suburbs originally, but my Midwest upbringing has no bearing on this choice (although personally I think people outside of all the major cities are generally the friendliest lot of them all). "So why Pennsylvania?" you ask, as you scratch your head. "Why does a Chicago homeboy pick that state as the friendliest?" Well, I'll tell ya, since you asked: The state motto on their license plate (tags) says it all: "You've Got A Friend in Pennsylvania" that truly does say it all -- and it has to be true -- otherwise, that's false advertising!!

every state i have been in has its ups and downs. i didnt really see any differences between New York (upstate, not the big apple, thats a different story), Michigan, Pennsylvania , and California. but all i have noticed is the farthest you get away from a bigger city the nicer the people get. so to be honest, i cant really answer your question because all the states are kinda the same for people and them being nice or not.

I have to say Tennessee. I vacation there at least 2 times a year and they are so Nice!!
