from the looks of it, it looks like decent specs. nothing spectacular, but something that should work fine. Vista should work well on 2g of RAM. The video card is "OK" for gaming. I dont have this card but reviews tend to put it in the middle of the pack.

vista will run fine with the 2gigs of ram.
the only real possible problem is the video card (ATi Radeon X1650SE 512MB Semi-shared ). Shared video means it will also use your ram as part of the video card memory.
If you are playing a game, it would use the ram for all the processing info, and then the video card would try to take some to the ram and use it for the video processing.
If possible, always try to get a video card that does not use shared ram...unless you have a ton of extra ram.
Overall, though the computer is not bad. I would just upgrade the video card eventually.

Thats perfect, I wish I would of gotten that one. 2gb is plenty of ram, dual core will handle the games. If you want extreme performance, you can also buy a video card later on and have someone install it. Good buy.

looks like it'll do ok
i run two copies of EVE online at once on a lesser, older, smaller box so, ya.
of course, i'm not a fan of the Acer brand and if it works for you ... ok.
btw, does Doom 3 get along with Vista?

It appears it will run fine. It doesn't come with a monitor, however, so you will need to take that into consideration. Which may mean an HP or Dell could offer a more competitive product.

yeah i guess that's an okay deal. I personally wouldn't jump on it, but I wouldn't say it's really bad or anything. It seems odd that they put an ATI gfx card with an NVidia chipset but whatever, I'm sure it will run doom3 just fine.

That machine will run it in full specs - Doom 3 is already outdated in terms of performance benchmarks.
the machine seems very worth it.

As long as it is Vista Ready, then its perfectly safe. Just clean your computer with Ccleaner and an antivirus (avast! recommended). Organize your flies and uninstall unecessary software.
