Did you ever just re-stuff the junk mail into the postage paid envelope and mail it back. Let them depose of their own trash.

A credit card company that I paid off 10 years ago still sends me junk mail everyday disguised in every possible way.

I usually file it under "G" for garbage.

I used to work for the post office and I can tell you that doesn't work. They can tell which ones are not legit usually because they're over stuffed and have no return address. I don't let junk mail bother me. I put it all through my shredder and recycle the whole mess every month or so. Junk mail is the only thing that's keeping the post office open these days.
People don't write letters anymore and with the rise in popularity of e-mail a lot of people pay bills on line, junk mail is just about the only business they have left. I don't see much future for the postal service. In the mean time, Give em a break. They're just trying to do a job and believe me delivering mail in all kinds of weather is no picnic.

I did that one time after all it did come in with a prepaid return envelope. Now I just put then through the shredder.I hat it when the junk mail will come disguised as a check and marked on the outside of the envelope not to be opened by anyone other than addressee. Now that is mean and just plain wrong!

One way that I have used is by calling the "Opt Out" number found at the bottom of the "You've Been Pre-Approved" credit card approvals. By doing this, you block any inquiries into your credit record and help keep your FICO score up. You also put an end the your name getting on these mailing lists.

I always go through the weekly circulars for sales and coupons, then "File 13" them.

That pretty much takes care of the junk mail.

No, but that's a pretty good idea. I just trash it, and it seems if is isn't junk mail, it's bills. I know where you are coming from though with the credit cards, I've had the same thing and numerous other cards as well.

I sort it, anything from a credit card company gets shredded! There can be checks in there that, by cashing, you have signed up and owe money...anything with personal info is shredded here, the rest is canned in the trash. Make sure you do not throw away ANYTHING that has personal info on it...and that includes ALL stuff from credit card companies, including the companies you have cards with....it pays to be careful.

I give it a decent burial by putting into the "round file". But, I always remember that it is the presence of that junk mail which helps hold down the cost of my own postage needs.
One of he great shocks for Americans who move overseas for a period of time is the cost of postal services in other countries.

I try to opt out as much as I can. When the junk mail comes in, I stand by my recycled bag and drop it in. If its banking information or credit card information, I do open that to shred the application.

I hate junk mail but I am told it keeps the Post Office in business.

Give me the simple life back, please!!!!!

You can go on record that you don't want to receive junk mail and they will take you off the lists. On the bottom of your credit card bills they have the number you can contact, that will apply to all your mailers unless you specifically allow one to mail you. Good luck

Tried re-stuffing it and sending it back for a while, but it didn't seem to work. Just took up my time, and they keep on sending more anyway. Now I just do what Shortuff does and into the garbage it goes!
