is it possible to run 1stick of 1gb of pc4200 on the gateway gt5220 and not enable dual channel?

Well you got the memory right. I assume you do not have 1gb in the other slot so thats why you don't want the dual channel active. You can still have a mis match of Ram size and it will not dual channel if thats what your worried about. If it is the same size, and for some reason you don't want the dual channel. i believe you can shut it off in the bios. This is done by hitting F1 or F2 during startup, or whatever it says to enter setup. Good luck

your mobo documentation has that info
if you don't have the mobo docs, try running DxDiag [from "Start", "Run"] and see if it gets the maker and model number -- then go to maker's website for the docs.


personally, i doubt it. my intel mobo plainly says that ram has to be installed in pairs.
