162 is the regular season. that doesn't include the preseason exhibition games and post season playoffs.

Each team suppossed to play 162 games but there has been a time where they play tie breakers and the count as the regular season and then you have to playoffs and those teams play more and once in awhile you do come accross they have a rain out late in the year and if both teams are out of the races then they will just cancel it and dont make it up.

There are 2430 "scheduled" regular season MLB games -
30 teams = 15 games X 162 = 2430
>"Robert"< First off there are not 32 MLB teams - Second even if there were, there would not be 5184 games played. It still takes two teams to play 1 game.
Shoot/darn/rats - Sorry "Chipmaker", I didn't read your whole answer until later.

Each team plays 162 and there are 2 teams in each game and there are 30 teams. So ....
162 X 30 / 2 = 2430 in a full regular season schedule.
Did you want to count pre- & post-season too?

A full team schedule is 162 games, there are 30 teams, and two teams per game -- so a complete season, without cancelled games, replayed ties, or tiebreaker playoffs, would be 2430 games. One All-Star Game. Anywhere from 24 to 41 postseason games. There's a lot of 'em.
