The reason it has failed where and whenever it was tried is because it wasn't done right. Dems think they'll do it right this time.

First of all... Democrats are not socialist. In most countries, they wouldn't even be considered left wing... maybe moderate... but NOT left wing.
Second of all, which socialist policy are you referring? If it's health, you're probably thinking of Canada's health care system, which is failing because it isn't funded by the Federal governmetn... and is extremely divided by the provinces. It's usually right wing parties in Canada that gut the health system in each respective province..... in short, it's failing because many provincial governments would rather spend money on lame wingnut projects than health care.
Many so called "socialist" ideas can work out very well if they're implemented correctly. Things such as subsidized education and insurance can really ease the burden off of the average joe schmo, while encouraging real equal opportunity.

You mean public education, social security, medicare, welfare, the postal service and other forms of social services? You are unbelievably naive if you think you could get rid of those things and still have a country worth living in.
Socialization of some things actually works throughout the world. Saying that democrats support socialism like the failed experiments in eastern europe and cuba is just stupid.

Please explain how you get a definition of socialism as government controlling the people, it has to do with collective ownership like for example a village owns the fire engines and we all pay for them with taxes and we all make use of their services.

Republicans are left of democrats in spending, in control of the population, in welfare, especially tax cuts and transfers to the rich, in spending, both on domestic and foreign projects, such as the worthless embassy in bagdad, the billion a day war,
The restriction on allowing import of canadian drugs that are cheaper, costing billions and putting cash into the pockets of drug companys here,
the attack on the environment, such as depending on ethanol which uses more energy to produce than oil,
building pipe lines in georgia(former soviet) and other countrys that harbor terrorists, they will be destroyed, a completely stupid and expensive 7 billion dollar move that will put 500 tons a year of pollution into the environment, supporting a war criminal in africa who kills his own people wholesale-he is getting several billion in US money for oil that he may never allow the US to have. We could have used all these billions for solar and wind power, but bush wants the corn, it helps his buddies in texas. I was a republican supporter who believed in Bush. Now I think he should be arrested, along with his other henchmen now in office for all the illegal stuff going on at the highest level. They covered up his drunk driving and disorderly conduct record (Rove and Gonzales)
managed to get a supreme court to support him despite gross voting irregularities in florida, stood by while his war hero opponent was pilloried
by republicans under rove, and bushfailed to serve his term in the guard(no one remembers him being there) though he got the pay and the goodies. His
cabinent and staff were evaders of the draft, along with himself. He fired Colin Powell, the only honest
person he had working in the oval office. Rove skipped out on the draft, was supposed to be going to school but was already scheming with dick nixon, who was run out of washington on a rail. He then worked for old man bush by lying about the other candidate for the job. His friend, Libby collected millions from indians seeking casinos, at the same time he represented those who didnt want casinos.
Should I go on? Do you really want to hear it?
No? It won't change your mind. What do you have to say? That "liberals" are lazy? You republican dummies need to find a new line. It wont sell this time. I dont like clinton but I hate what this country has become. Split into factions and hating one another, worse in fear, of one another. What will you do? More hate? More lies? More tax cuts for the rich? More free grazing land and cheap water
for the cattle barons to sell their crap to mcdonalds, the arches responsible for making everyone fat? 7 billiopn for the oil companies, while they had the most profits ever. You just don't get it do you? Republicans and their stooges have screwed the american people for too long and there are millions like me that want our country back.
Every day a newe shock. I read today that Putun is resuming the cold war. Wonderful. hated and laughed at in the world, we are going back 40 years in time.
Many died in the so called cold war. I was in it. And it was tough on everyone. Then a hot war started
and we are doing it all over again. Socialism. Yes we have paid billions in welfare to the rich. It's time to stop. A woman dies in an emergency room, she has no money for treatment so she is ignored.
The VA screwed up my leg so I cant walk. Do I rate an apology? No! They just raised my fees. And I have to wait for 8 weeks to see a doctor. Do I sue?
No. This is my country. other vets newly injured need the resources. They are my brothers. I freely give what I can to them including my appointments. Things have got to change. This time I am right there in my wheelchair. and many brothers. I will be there. And this time things will change.
