Ok here's the deal. My boss bought me a new system with Vista OS and Office 07 bundle. Excel is so freakin slow. It drags, lags and is glitchy. It can not keep up with simple data input. No fancy formulas, pivot charts, etc. just simple # input and some words. I have to wait forever just for excel to catch up to what I haved typed let alone I try to save something. Hmmm can we say it hangs, becomes unresponsive then crashes. Almost like an excel corpse. Restart program then wait for it to load again... slooowww. Then it wants to fix my "problem" and send information to MS. Well that's another few mins. Again try to input simple #'s and words and again slow as hell. Try to print well that may take a few mins. Let alone switch between screens. WTF?? It's basically a tease. After 20 - 30 mins of screwing around no spread sheet or satisfaction. Just frustration. I am ready to uninstall and go back to Office 03. Or was there an abacus in the box and I threw it away by accident?

Did you just get new software and not a new computer. Vista requires a lot of system resources to run. If you have an even halfway old computer trying to run Vista you are in for trouble. Excel 2007 should run just fine on XP.

I have Excel 2007 on my new laptop with Vista and it runs perfectly fine. Your problem may moreso be Vista than Office 2007. I'd double check your system memory and speed with the requirements for Vista. And also make sure that you don't have too many programs open.

So you probably have 3 good options:

1.) Get a faster/better computer
2.) Upgrade the computer's hardware
3.) Uninstall Vista and keep Office 2007

this might ensue if the cellular is formatted for dates earlier you enter the fee. attempting to alter the format together as there's a value interior the cellular won't help, on account that a different inner fee is already getting used via Excel. (some human beings write their dates that way, so Excel obliges. not sure the thank you you bought 42345, because of fact the form 41078 is how Excel internally represents the date June 18 2012.) The cellular must be extra often than no longer or form format *earlier* entering the form you decide on.

Your problems it seems are on the hardware side. Vista requires a whopping 1 GB RAM, a very powerful processor (eg.. Pentium IV, Pentium D, Core 2 Duo etc.) and a great video card that has Pixel Shader 3 support.

Are you creating a new document or using an existing one? If you are using an existing document that has alot of formulas try this....

Tools/Options/Calculation tab - Change to manual.

This is a problem that exists with huge amounts of data with formulas regardless of Vista......

It definitely sounds like a memory problem. There may also be too many programs running in the background.

How much memory does your computer have? Seems the more the merrier with Vista. Maybe they can boost the amount of memory you have.
